Here's a song I wrote that was born out of a scandal. Can you fall in love in 2nd grade? If so I did. She was my girlfriend until the end of 5th grade when I broke up with her. In 6th grade I found myself missing her terribly and wanted her back but my 6th grade teacher stole her from me. Changing all of our lives forever. Fast forward to 11th grade --- I am depressed and still love her and with a heavy duty Sunday morning hangover I wrote this song called "Never Forget You" without getting out of my bed. She's never heard it. http://www.reverbnation.com/frankporteracoustic/song/13859355-never-forget-you

Your story beforehand confused me...your teacher took your 6th grade girlfriend? In what way?
It might help others critique this if you post the lyrics on your page with the link to the song.
The musical tone and style make me think a little of Mumford and Sons. You have a really nice voice. I find that a little more variation on the lyric might make it even better. Break up the melody too, maybe with a bridge?
Best of luck on this
Kimberly

Hi Kimberly,
My 6th grade teacher took my girlfriend. He became her boyfriend. She fell so hard for him at the time that in 8th grade she took off to Canada with him. He got fired and the story hit the local papers and became a full fledged small town scandal. I appreciate that you took the time to listen and I appreciate your comments. I have thought of changing the 3rd verse. And may do it.
I like the simplicity. I may add a short acoustic guitar solo over a bridge like change in the music. This version is already released by a record label. I have thought of doing an updated studio version for my next studio album which will likely come out in 2016. Your thoughts match my own pretty closely!
Thank you for the good luck and comments!
Frank

Hi Frank, I haven't been around these foreign parts for the better half of a year so nice to cyber-meet ya. I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it to you but it would help if you would post lyrics with your tunes as it helps in giving feedback in that area.
Having said that, I like this. Kind of reminds me of the early '60s folk era or maybe a bit forward to Peter and Gordon or Chad and Jeremy with the harmonies. You may be too young to know who they were but it reminds me of them a bit. Really well arranged harmonies and well executed singing them. This would really sound grand with a full production but not sure if you have that capability with your setup.
Oh, I listened to some of your other stuff on SoundCloud and really like your guitar work. You've got some talent for sure.
Regards,
Stevie

Hi Steve,
I just wanted to say thanks for listening. I appreciate your insight and I am a little young to know those folks. I find it very interesting that I sound like artists I am not familiar with. Somehow I think that is a good thing. I am working on a live album to be released later this year and a new studio album for next year. Both will still be a very simple acoustic guitar with vocal albums. I am interested in doing a more full production and if the opportunity comes along you can be sure I will go in that direction.

Thank you Steve and I am glad to meet you here on JPF forums. Thanks for the guitar work comments. I try to play a little every day. These days it's finger picking to strengthen the tips of my picking fingers. I would love to hear an alternate and fuller version of Never Forget You. If you ever visit PA let me know and maybe we can work on this with your vision. I would need to know in advance to see if my favorite studio is available. Worse case scenario we use my studio.

The age difference was 14 years. She was 12 as was I when it began. Unfortunately I remember it all to well. They never did get married is my understanding. They are not still together. She does have a significant other. I did get a great song out of it. She may hear it one day.
Lyrics
Know where I'm going and I know where I've been. Don't want to leave you behind me. I know that soon you are planning to be Wed. This really hurts deep inside me.
No I will never forget you. Impossible there's no way. No I will never forget you. Even though he's taken you away.
I will always be in love with you. Just thought you might like to know this. And I feel there is nothing I can do. I'll just have to accept it.
No I will never forget you. Impossible there's no way. No I will never forget you. Even though I've got to go away.
Know where I'm going and I know where I've been. Don't want to leave you behind me. I know that soon you are planning to be Wed. This really hurts deep inside me.
No I will never forget you. Impossible there's no way. No I will never forget you. Even though he's taken you away.
