Find Joy / Let It GoYet another song I just wrote and recorded only to be heard by a handful of people and will end up on a dusty shelf in my basement. http://www.badbetsy.com/sneak_preview/s/find_joy__let_it_go Find joy / Let it Go© 2015 Bad Betsy A.S.C.A.P. V1 Find Joy: In all that ‘s been given. Be thankful for everything that you may have Find Joy: In the day when you wake up. Don’t look for anything in return. Don’t you run away from your life today. V2 Find Joy: With all that surrounds you. Every day isn’t always so grey. Find Joy: With the miracles around you and don’t forget to smile along the way. Good is there for you If you want it to Chorus: Let it go. Forget the past, move on, and let it go. Don’t hang on to things that you bring you down Let it go, Let it go, Let it go. Just let it go. V3 : Instrumental Break Repeat Chorus Bridge V4 Find Joy: With The love thats around you, don’t forget those who have gone away. Find Joy: In every situation. Gratitude turns what we have into enough Face all your fears let them disappear. Repeat Chorus Outro Let it go

Iggy,
I loved this song, neat melody and cool expressions.
I only have one sug for you. I understand what you doing with the instrumental bridge, and like that digression--I do think IMO, it can be arranged a little better by backing off the bass guitar a little and maybe also, just have the bass guitar play some more sustained notes and keep very basic or "elementary" in it's presentation within the bridge; thereby allowing the horns and keyboard to "do" their diversionary expressive thing without the competition of the bass. Keep the competition between the horns and keyboard. Also possibly pan them a bit more opposing to enhance that competitive duet by allowing a little better discernment as well.
Just a thought bro--loved your vocals and harmonies. This was extremely cool!

Hi Eddie,
I saw in another post where somebody referred to you as “the dissector”. I for one want to thank you for the time you spend giving honest and sincere feedback. Your detailed listening cuts through the emotion of writing, recording and posting a new song giving the artist an honest assessment and how it can improve. Thank you.
I did take your suggestion to heart and put more separation between the piano and the trumpet. Still mulling over making the bass line more basic as I worked so gosh darn hard playing my Hofner in that Paul what’s his name style. I’ll revisit that thought once new song syndrome has worn off.
Again, many thanks. Your insight is always appreciated.

Bumping before retiring it with my other experiments to that dark dusty shelf in my basement.
Fixed some things, added some stuff. Sung my little heart out, played till my fingers bled.

Iggy,
I think this would have made a great addition to the Beatle's "Anthology" late album, which IMO was mostly John Lennon's influence. I really like this a lot. Again we are, most of us, limited with our production capabilities--you have done a very nice job with your capabilities/equip/etc. I'd love to hear this song with a 1st class mic capture & music production! You should be proud, nice work, great melody especially, also cool vocals/harmonies/, and lyrics that will stick with the listener. (The bridge now feels more in sync as well).

Hi Iggy,
WHEW! I had to fight my way past all of the old boxes and cobwebs to get to the dusty shelf this was lying on ... only to find the song covered with droplets of blood from your bloody fingers, along with your little heart all shriveled up on top!
But I persevered, took out my hanky, dusted everything off, and listened!!!
I'm sure glad I went through all of that ... it was well worth it!
Your song is super cool...I agree with Eddie's assessment, including the Beatles feel to it ... it's a really nice, feel-good song... CLAP, CLAP, CLAP!
Lisa
P.S. One thing ... for some reason, when the song starts, it made me feel that I had missed the beginning ... like I was coming in in the middle of the song. I went back and hit "replay" thinking I had missed something. I don't know if this matters at all and it's probably intentional, but I thought I'd mention it, for what it's worth!

Love the message and music - Good job of putting all the elements together- just took a leisurly drive with my wife today and this could have been the theme song as we were enjoying the beautiful flora of spring.

Eddie! I would love to go into a first class studio like Abbey Road and record a song from scratch. That would make me most happy. But alas, food, heat, water and the mortgage keep taking away my recording money. I’ve had the opportunity to record in studios here and in Nashville, but to have a class studio and unlimited funds would be awesome. Maybe I could even bring George Martin out of retirement!
Hi Lisa thanks for dusting off the cob webs. I really appreciate the Beatle’s reference.
I did kick around a few intros as I, too, felt the song started a bit too quick. Then I said why not? Ain’t nobody gonna buy it or sign it or anything so why stick to the norm.
Pete, Yeah it’s spring! Today was the first day this year I was able to get outside and play! Thanks for listening and saying my song could be a theme song for a beautiful day.

Iggy,
I like for some of my songs to just jump out of the starting gate as well, (I try and mix it up) I typically do not like long intros, as they test the patience with many listeners, but every song is different and some really need intros, others can use or lose them. When I do have a song like that I want jumping out of the gate, I sometimes will insert a snare pop or drum sticks clicking four times to launch the song for the listener. I'm not saying you need to do that, but it may worth experimenting with and a quick tweak.
