Hello, everyone. Dreamstation is a commentary on club drugs. When I first released it here, it was without lyrics. So I am going to re-release it with the lyrics... Dreamstation I went to sleep, when I opened my eyes There was grey, maroon, over white in the skies How could this be so I asked of myself Through a ripple of waterflow over a shelf on a cloud How could it be that I'm so animated? Planting both feet in this place truly hated Dream... Trying to wake as I opened a door And I'm falling through whipping cream under the floor Kaliediscopically searching my soul As the cartoons and bar tunes escape down a pink rabbit hole How could it be that I'm so animated Where are my feet in this place truly jaded? Dream... Hey...! I don't know you anyway May...be back to reality one day Fleas dancing with hippopottimi Steam rising from the breath of a magpie How could it be that I'm so animated? Rushed when it's obvious I should have waited Der Nyer le chonson populair Sounds bouncing off the kids at the Mayfaire How could it be that I'm so animated? A house collapsing around those that made it Dreamstation (don't forget to listen to the end...) http://www.reverbnation.com/thedifferenz/song/20503105-dreamstationRobert Malin

Robert, I like it. The music moves along and has the retro feel I always enjoy. I heard some Beatles influences in the music. All in all an enjoyable song.

Hey Diff!
Very cool, loved this melody. My only sug would be give the drum track a boost, especially the snare. Cool lyrics, cool vibe!

Hey, Dan...
Thank you for the spin and interest. I adored the wide-open and creative space of the Beatles, and I must say they were an enormous influence on my musical direction...

Hey, MLB...
How peculiar that I almost never indulged in the drugs of the day, whatever day it was. But I was influenced, musically, by those who did. And some of my favorites were those who cared not what anyone thought about their direction. They created art at the highest level possible, and I am sorry there is not much like that today...
Thanks Mike

Hey, Eddy...
Once again, thanks for noticing. I noticed the drum thing. It doesn't drive it well enough. Did you notice the tuba in the bridge part? Yah...that was fun...

A good one Robert as we've come to expect from Mr HiBar I agree about wanting hear the drums pop. I'm sure you've considered it but this would make a killer vid. Enjoyed it very much. J&B

Hey, J&B...
Thank you so much for the kind words. The industry doesn't seem to be looking anymore for creativity, except that it carries with it youth and a lot of money. I constantly hear that the industry died when Napster broke through and music started leaning toward free. That is too bad. There are those of us who still write and produce really good music, so it seems we need some kind of a breakthrough or discovery of something new where all of us still making music have a way to get it out there. I do have an idea how to do this through a website...hmmm...I will let you know what I come up with...

Refreshing and interesting as always, Diff. Yes, I remember those feelings too.
To my ears you seem to have the vocals panned left and right but the music seems to sit mainly in the centre. Is that right?

I appreciate the notice and the spin. This song was supposed to challenge the ears a bit, so maybe I succeeded? One of my favorite parts was the church bell. And the ending, which no one seems to wait for...lol...

You guys write stuff that's interesting as hell, it's like this odd mix of the familiar and stuff I've never heard before, there's a lot of fresh aspects to the songs y'all construct, have I mentioned the "alan parsons" influence I hear?...well done.

Hey, Mac...
Well, coming from you that is much appreciated! Usually, the song starts out as a simple (or complicated) tune on the acoustic guitar. Nothing too fancy occurs until we take it into the studio. Maybe we do not act or interact like others in the studio. When there, we put down the basic acoustic guitar first. By that time one of the three of us are hearing all sorts of other things...sometimes strange things. This is where the fun really begins. In Dreamstation, in the bridge, we altered the beat but still staying within the tempo. Then we added a cathedral bell, then we must have listened to it three times and something was still missing. We experimented, and eventually added coronet, french horn, baritone, trombone and tuba played one octave BELOW its normal range. And then, of course, the little guitar run and chord at the end. That's a brief overview of how it happened...anyway, thanks so much for noticing!

I do have an idea how to do this through a website...hmmm...I will let you know what I come up with... We recorded a lot of bluegrass with a great friend who was a stellar musician. Grammy nominated, 12 time US Fiddle Champion, played on Garth Brooks' albums and more. When he passed away at 39 we released a 2002 CD of our recordings with him and donated all the proceeds to cancer research in his honor. The CD did well for Bluegrass and all went well for about18 months. After that period it was showing up available all over the net for illegal downloads and sales plummeted. We still get payments from Amazon, iTunes, spotify, rhapsody, etc., but nothing compared to the actual CD sales. It's the new normal.

These lyrics are crazy, I really dig this tune. It's really psychedelic and the talk box guitar part is blowing my mind. If there was a song to make kids start taking drugs this would be it ;-)
Awesome song man I really enjoyed it.

Hey, Andy.... Thanks so much for the listen and for the nice words. You can't get it all with one listen. There's so much in there. It's like an onion being constantly peeled. The cathedral bell, the tuba, the horns, the french language statement, the ending after the ending...thanks again!

Robert,
What a cool trip...
"Trying to wake as I opened a door And I'm falling through whipping cream under the floor Kaliediscopically searching my soul As the cartoons and bar tunes escape down a pink rabbit hole
How could it be that I'm so animated Where are my feet in this place truly jaded? Dream..."
terrific lyric, cool music (let those drums snap a bit).

Hey, FJ...
Thanks for noticing. Yah, someone else said it was the perfect song to get young people to try drugs. I didn't want that...just to make my statement for the opposite. We're taking it back into the studio December 28th for drums re-write. Again, thank you!
