A song I wrote fifteen years ago and we'd sing in a pub I used to frequent.Sang it to a traditional melody we borrowed. I have no firm religious beliefs. The lyric came about after meeting up with some old pals who attended a catholic school near to the Church of England school I wasted my time at. Some of those guys were born in Ireland but in all the time we've known each other and inspite of our different religions background we've never had a cross word.
Never go to church but enjoy a good wake
Father Brown said, bless you son put his hand on my bare knee I kicked him hard in the balls was the last time he assaulted me
The nun who taught us mathematics screaming brimstone and hellfire Drank gin and smoked at playtime but Ma called me a bloody liar
Never go to church but enjoy a good wake gotta drink to the dear departed they were friends for Christs sake
Hate these religious stoppers with their foot in your door So I show my male knockers they don't come back anymore
Never go to church but enjoy a good wake gotta drink to the dear departed they were friends for Christs sake
When I die which I probably will a humanist service for me wicker coffin then in the fire after my interview with Big G
Never go to church but enjoy a good wake gotta drink to the dear departed they were friends for Christs sake

Hi Travis, I can picture you guys singing this down at the pub. Haha! A really fun read, that I got a kick out of. I don't really see anything that warrants a warning, but guess it's good to be on the cautious side. I don't see much to complain about here. This is just some down home fun. Really good stuff! David

Hey Travis,
I'm in agreement -- fun song! After the first verse, I thought it was going to be serious and I set my face all stony, but then cracked a smile as it went on!
