A break from the horrors of war Stan, sounds good, even better if you didn't have to return to the hostilities. Travis

HiDee Bwo!!!
'68-'69 was prolly one of THE most-interesting, & occasionally-exciting Years of my life, and Yep, there were some pretty Fun Moments interspersed between the Grim Job we were tasked-with.
MOST of this CD I penned..& posted here..almost 2 years ago..."Still Coming Back from The War" is title track...with "Love You by Day/Kill You by Night" and "Manhunt" for the Typical-War-Story Songs... But I think others, like "The Major's Whore" and "He Gave His Sex Life for His Country"...and "Glad I'm Better-Lookin' (Than My Photo I.D.)"..plus "Don't F with A PFC", if it makes it on the Album, will Round Out the MANY Facets of a Year in a War Zone.
All in All, it's a Very Cathartic effort...and as with this one, lots of Fun to Reminisce a wee-bit...on Days Gone By, long-ago. (This Year marks the 50th Anniversary of the US's introducing Ground Troops in Vietnam.)
Thanks for Your Kind Words & Visit, Good Buddy! Best Wishes & a Big Bwo-Hug, Stan

HiYa Brother Chris!!!
I ended up one of The Fortunate Few over there...
Army had no use for my BA in Fine Arts, so off I went to Combat Engineer School, Ft Leonard Wood, MO...where I learned to lay & probe for mines, build hasty obstacles and Bailey Bridges, shoot M-Something-or-other Machine guns, M-76 Grenade Launchers, and LAW Anti-Tank Rockets (latter 2 were somewhat FUN)... I'd make a good terrorist to this day, since I still remember how to handle C-4, Det Cord, and booby-trapping...
But, as Luck would have it, they needed a Sec'y for the Chief of Records Branch, 4th Infantry Admin Co..the day I arrived in Pleiku, and my Typewriting Ability..and Gregg Notehand Skills...got me a pretty plumb job from Day One.
4 months later, I was awarding a Good Conduct Medal to a Returning-Stateside Soldier...and didn't recognize his MOS (Military Occupational Specialty Number)..which turned out to be "Combat Illustrator"... In Reality, he'd been the Div. Newspaper's Cartoonist...which is what I'd done for years in Civilian Life... Ended up as His Replacement...& for 8 Fun months I was with the Press Folks, Cartooning-Away with my own Strip, "PFCIC". (It wasn't ALL Fun...but sure coulda been Worse!)
Thanks for Your Kind Visit & Words, Amigo! Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug, Stan

Hey Stan Enjoyed this read, I quite liked it. It's written tightly and I like the title. But what I like most about it was the references to Australia Cheers, wondering what it will sound like to music... Rich

G'Day, Brother Rich!!!
I found Sydney to be a Delightful Town...& the Locals a LOT of Fun! Can't remember the name of the 3-Story-Bar most of us Yanks hung-out at, but it was a Trip! I'd brought my Scuba Gear & $200, only to discover $200 was the Airfare to get to the Great Barrier Reef, and I'd have had to starve for 10 days, if I went. Sooo..met another US Dive Guy & we rented tanks & got advice from a local dive shop "Where to dive in Sydney?"
"Try Manley Bay" they said, & we did...tho my Companion disappeared into the murk almost immediately/couldn't track his bubbles/both of us used up all our air pretty quickly..end of dive. Later-on, learned Manley Bay there is THE most Shark-Infested Area in all the Harbor...
Apparently the Local Guys weren't Entirely-Happy about all the GIs hitting on their women... ;-)>
Great Steaks, Enjoyed the Lawn Bowling, and bought a buncha Aborigine Art I still have to this day (Yep, a REAL Boomerang, as-well!) Looking forwards to heading back to see the Outback/The Reef I'd missed/& New Zealand, as-well!
Thanks for Your Kind Words & Visit! Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug, Stan
