FEISTY MAIDENS,TAVERN ALE
V Sail a ship with polished brass tall and strong up to the mast An eagle eye where gulls fly sailors farewell if we should die V Canons primed ready to fire our foe like us battle tired A broadside and this ship will blow to ten thousand fathoms below C Feisty maidens, tavern ale A penny whistles to dance too For tomorrow their ship will sail on the oceans wild and blue ( Repeat 4 linesl) V Sailed the waves from a cabin lad had masters brutal, some not bad Swore when a master mariner I'll treat my charges firm but fair
I try not to think of her the one i miss and love so dear B those green eyes and cascading hair could drive a absent jack tar to despair C

Love it! Are you familiar with The Poxy Boggards? They do similar style songs, many racy and irreverent, about sailing, drinking, and women. I believe some of their members belong to Just Plain Folks.
Great writing!

Travis,
This one has a lot of potential--really like the simplicity of it. I might consider moving that second verse to the end. It might be a nice segway to the bridge, where in battle, the singer tries not to think of her. Not quite sure how you view the story here, but it seems to me the singer is currently a commander/captain of the ship. It might be interesting if this is a song sung to the "boys" under his command--the chorus being a reminder for them to enjoy life while they can, for tomorrow their ship will sail into dangerous waters . . . leaving implicit that they may not return after they leave.
Just one direction to go in . . . and food for thought.
Will look forward to see how this one turns out.
Regards,
Deej
