CASUALTY OF TIME

[V]
the barley swayed in golden waves
far as the eye could see.
like the distance now between
seperating you from me.
Believed that we  ONCE had
THAT PASSION  POETS DEFINE
but love sometimes loses OUT
to the casualties of time

[C]
often wonder where you are,
if your memories are clear as mine?
or if there's a coming back from
the casualties of time?

[V]
home crafted jewerly
busked in the market square.
kept us free of poverty,
when we'd nothing half was shared
sadly love wasn't worth a penny,
nor a nickle or a dime.
so our love lost the battle with
the casualties of time. [Chorus]

[B]
wake from restless sleep
hopin'you'd be there.
knowin' that you're not,
still hoping that you care. [Chorus]

--------------'-'------------------------------
CASUALTY OF TIME
V
The barley swayed in golden waves
endless ocean far as the eye could see
Your hair light brown cascading down
Beautiful face there in front of me

  C
Often wondered where you are
are your memories as clear as mine?
Or can't you even recall my name?
   Another casualty of time
V
     Home crafted earrings and bracelets
busking Saturday in the market square
     Avoiding poverty,  though never rich
Then  when we'd nothing half was shared

V
Sadly love won't bring you money
when friends have what you can't afford to buy
And the summer fades to autumn
      There's a feeling life's passing you by

  C
Often wondered where you are
are your memories as clear as mine?
Or can't you even recall my name?
   Another casualty of time

B
      Woke from  a restless sleep
        to find you was'nt there
Your  note left, your clothes gone
That you'd drape over the chair
Chorus

I've written a handful of songs with Doug Murphy over the years and after a fairly successful last song together with Pick a rose, choose a diamond( currently on the MP3) Doug suggested we write more.
This most recent posting comes after a few rewrites were sent backwards and forwards to get a working lyric.

Not a bad lyric and a good title, you two.
I think however, the lyric needs to show how love became a casualty.
For e.g. you could change the last half of the second verse which seems a little muddled. Partly because you don't lose a battle with the casualties of time if you were the casualties.

sadly our love wasn't strong enough
to sustain life's hard climb
and that's how we became part of
the casualties of time.

Keep or sweep as they say.

Vic

It's never too late? Yes it is, so do it now.

If, given time, a monkey can write the complete works of Shakespeare maybe there's hope for me.
