"HOLOCAUST / NEVER AGAIN" Words, Music & Performed by ME...

A KNOCK ON THE DOOR AT FOUR AM
WE WERE TAKEN FROM OUR HOMES
WITH NOTHING BUT THE CLOTHES UPON OUR BACKS

THEY DRAGGED AWAY MY MOM AND MY DAD
THE SOLDIERS PUSHED US TO THE GROUND
I TRIED TO HIDE IN A SECRET ROOM
BUT I WAS FOUND

NEVER AGAIN, NEVER AGAIN
WHILE THE WORLD STOOD BY SIX MILLION DIED
WE CAN'T AFFORD TO LOOK AWAY NEXT TIME

NEVER AGAIN, NEVER AGAIN
WILL THE SCREAMS OF PEOPLE FALL ON DEAF EARS
WE MUST NEVER LET IT HAPPEN HERE AGAIN

WE MUST SAVE AS MANY PICTURES
THOUGH NOBODY WANTS TO LOOK
FUTURE PEOPLE WON'T BELIEVE IT
IF THEY JUST READ IT IN A BOOK

CAN'T FORGET WHAT HAPPENED
IT CAN HAPPEN HERE AGAIN
I HEAR THE CRIES OF THE VICTIMS
NEVER AGAIN

WE WALKED DOWN THE ROAD IN THE FREEZING COLD
WE WERE THE YOUNG, AND THE VERY OLD
MOST OF ALL THE MEN HAD DISAPPEARED

MY MIND WENT NUMB, I COULD HARDLY BREATHE
MY HEART WAS POUNDING IN MY CHESST
THIS COULDN'T BE, I COULDN'T BELIEVE MY EYES

(CHORUS)
WE MUST SAVE AS MANY PICTURES
THOUGH NOBODY WANTS TO LOOK
FUTURE PEOPLE WON'T BELIEVE IT
IF THEY JUST READ IT IN A BOOK

CAN'T FORGET WHAT HAPPENED
IT CAN HAPPEN HERE AGAIN
I HEAR THE CRIES OF THE VICTIMS
NEVER AGAIN, NEVER AGAIN
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZupog5qqlI&t=8s HERE IS THE SONG..

As an Englishman by Birth, the words of this song remind me of the Hatred that Hitlers
regime had for Human Beings

I lived through the German Raids as a child , it effected me badly , I was only two or three
years of age, but I felt the sadness of my mother when she held me in her arms on certain
nights where we could not make it to The Air Raid Shelter

We lived within a mile of Portsmouth where most of the British Ships sailed from, and my
aunties and uncles worked in Depots making Bombs and shells

My Grandad was a big influence on me he used to play The Accordion and I would be struck
by it , I am pleased we are leaving the E U as I believe its a failure , and long term we will be better off
without it well done Barry

Without the right music your clever lyrics will never be heard, if you want success be prepared to re write many times and even change the meter you chose originally

I commend you for writing this, but there's a few assumptions that bothered me:
"WHILE THE WORLD STOOD BY SIX MILLION DIED" The world didn't "stand by" -they went to war (in 1939 in Canada's case)
My father had his tank blown up 3 times crossing Europe-hardly standing by...
"THE SCREAMS OF PEOPLE FALL ON DEAF EARS"-see above
"NOBODY WANTS TO LOOK"- not in my experience. History channel, PBS, etc constantly air shows on the topic.
"FUTURE PEOPLE WON'T BELIEVE IT
IF THEY JUST READ IT IN A BOOK" Really? Not in my estimation.
As for "Never again" I didn't hear a great uproar from the world condemning genocide in Africa and other countries.
Again, I commend you for the topic but the lyric needs some work.

P.S. All caps can be hard on the eyes! smile

I disagree as years went by and the world including the US knew of these camps and millions died in those years. YES...America and Russia were instrumental in bringing down Hitler.
YES the world is still looking the other way as these holocausts go on all the time.
This is my take on the story....Roosevelt even refused to let them bomb some rail lines into some of the camps. Also we wouldn't allow a ship to dock in the US carrying many Jews and others and sent them back to Germany into who knows what.

Our Planet has a Virus of hate going around and it's awful. My issue is for the Jews but it's awful for all.

The next time they try to take down the Jews in Israel ...Israel will take down many of them this time.....The Jews aren't patsies anymore...
NEVER AGAIN / NEVER FORGET....

It may be your "take" but your explanation is more concise than your lyric-which is the point.

Perhaps you're arguing-I'm not; this is a critiquing forum and that was my only intention.

"I like the lyric" I'm sure you do or you wouldn't have posted it. However, I thought the the intended purpose was to get others to like it.

All the best
-Mike

I'm not trying to get people to like the words.
I'm trying to upset people by the lyrics.
When I write these kinds of songs I realize they
will never be on the radio but I tell the truth as I see it
and this song is very depressing but powerful.

Don't know what to add to the comments already posted. Interesting timing as tomorrow is the anniversary of the catalyst for the other side of WWII, Pearl Harbor. The day that will live in infamy until maybe eclipsed on Sept. 11, 2001. Today's tug of war with our leaders could bring us to tragic times once again but we have to hope not for anything near this damning so I wouldn't be taking bets. Not sure today if we have the same common scapegoat such as Jews were for the Nazis.

Recently A & E TV brought back episodes of Dog the Bounty Hunter for a couple of days, and I got to thinking that what the Nazis did was the most extreme form of bounty hunting, wouldn't you say?

Sensitive issue that should evoke an emotion from the reader / listener and it does, however, I feel that this would be better presented as a spoken word piece.
I find it impossible to suggest a genre for music.

Good luck, thanks for sharing

I send it to Holocaust Sites and Education places and get amazing response. I'm going to try Israeli Radio and Video.

This is so appropos again in the wake of the Florida school shooting and the tragic death of an upper echelon Chicago police officer the day before.
