I've never seen an episode before but I'm impressed. Makes me want to send in an audition.

I saw it for the first time and was impressed with the level of talent. Don't know if I'll take the time to "schedule" a weekly watch time but it certainly looks interesting. Some of the "rules of the game" are not yet clear to me... but it appears that teams mentoring are involved.
Since I'm only a songwriter and not an entertainer, I'll never be anything but an onlooker. Anyway, I wish them luck.
Dave

I'll have to watch it some night. They're using a track of mine on the show. Be interesting hearing how they sliced & diced it (if I can catch it the nights they use it). John

Hi John:
If you discover the night your track will be "aired"... I hope you'll let us know. It's always fun to hear how other artists and bands rend your music. It's alot more fun when the royalty checks arrive.
Best,
Dave

They're using it as is Dave. Just sliced and diced it. Meaning they're only using a small part of it. From my January statement, it's been used 4 times so far. Here's the track: "Thriller" http://schicksville.com/Music/THRILLER.mp3John

I don't know if you guys know this but a young lady's voice that we have heard before on here, will make an appearance next Monday. Her name is Karla Davis. She was from Greensboro NC and is now in Nashville. She sang a song written by David Reuter, Curt Collins and Troy Hoss, I think she may be a co-writer too..... called Whiskey's got a job to do...those of you that has been around a few years may remember it...Curt and David are members of JPF! Here is Karla's Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPXv9VLHqRoCurt's Version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Whk3bz3WaC8I am on her facebook fan page, and been keeping up with her career, have her cd and she will be on the blind auditions this coming Monday...:)Feb 13... I thought I would spread the word since the VOICE was mentioned. John, let us know where and when your music airs...:) Please Kimberly

The Voice is great - in fact, any of the shows that allow unknown musicians to "be found" are great.
There are way too many talented musicians out there that never get a shot. This gives them at least one more avenue.

I am bumping this and hopefully remind us to watch the Voice tonight as it has Karla Davis on it, and we here on JPF have heard her...doing song by Curt Collins and DaVid Reuter.
Kim
Edit....Sorry, Karla was not on tonight...I suppose they told her incorrectly but I did see her in the previews for next Monday...so she will be on that one for sure!!

Just saw it for the first time on Sunday night. Loved it. Nice to see a talent show that isn't a freakshow, too. Some really great singers, and I love the coaches and the interplay among them.
I am not really a fan of any of the judges' music, except Cee-Lo, but I gotta say that I really like all of their personalities as they are on-display on the show. Especially Blake Shelton. Seems like a good, genuine guy. At least he comes off that way. Charming as hell.

I never watch these type of shows either but I was stuck in my chair as usual and the remote was out of reach. My dog who brings me my remote in this case was unavailable at the time So I watched a whole episode for the first time. Was wondering right away why the judges had there backs to the singers But I started to pick up on the concept of the show. Liked the idea that they could NOT let there eyes alter there judgment. Regardless of the "biz" or exposure aspect of the show, I enjoyed it and like the idea that these professionals will actually HELP the singers, coach them and mentor them. THAT can never be a bad thing for them in there lives. All the singing judges are total pros and talented people. I probably wont watch again, even though I love music and singing and great struggling stories and LOVE to see dreams come true. Like it would be in any case it's just too much of the same thing for me. Seems all I see on TV besides the crime shows in every city lol is JUDGING whether it be a panel judging singers, dancers, or Daytime talk shows or Actual Judges I would like to see stuff about MUSIC! as in musicians and styles. Forget songwriting nobody cares much about that in the world accept us LOL

As I was "channel surfing" again the other evening, I ran across the "Voice" again... and stuck around to watch. I like the idea that the "judges" vie for the artists "loyalty" and that there does not appear to be any "telephone" malarky from audiences with untrained ears and miserable taste.
There may be a "dark side" to this show but I have not discovered it yet. Here's hoping it works... and that the successful "artists" end up doing well... long after the show has been scrubbed from the network. Too bad they don't give credit to songwriters.

Tonight is the night that our votes count for Karla Davis, whom we have heard on JFP before.
She is on the Adam Levine team and will be performing alone tonight on THE VOICE....check her out, and if you dig her, like I do, lets support her with our votes!!!
Kimberly

I liked Karla before knowing that she was a JPF member. Now I like her even more. The Voice is a great show; so much better than A.I.

Unfortunatly, Karla was voted off last night. I am disappointed BUT it is a great way to get her voice out more to the public... you can get her cds and listen to her music at http://www.karladavismusic.com/TheKarlaDavisOfficialWebsite/WELCOME.htmlKim and Papa Todd I heard her first through a couple of writers on JPF that used to come on the site often, dreuter and curt collins....a song Whiskey's Got a Job to do and Where He'd Wanna Be, that featured Karla's voice and I became a fan. I have one of her cds, and about to buy her 2nd one, hope to see her perform soon too.
