I recently purchased a new clip-on tuner that works WAY better than the other one I have. It is called a Snark SN-2 and I bought it on line for about $13 including shipping. I definitely recommend it or its companion, the SN-1. It is very responsive on all strings - acoustic or electric.
You can easily find one by Googling.

I read some of the reviews -- every one seems to love it. I probably paid double for mine (sabine zoid z-1000). I like it, but sometimes I have to wait or mute everything before hitting the next string in order for it to register. By the time I get around to ordering this one, the price will probably go back up!

Are the Snark's chromatic tuners? Its probably good to mute the strings so the tuner doesn't pick up harmonics and overtones.

Snark has a blue model for guitar only and a red chromatic model for guitar and other instruments which is what I have. Mine responds instantly to each string without a wait or having to play harmonics on the bass strings like my Intellitouch tuner requires.

I have one. Its cool and it works well. I don't leave it on my guitar's headstock during gigs though. I like the look of a Telecaster without the new-fangled tuner on it!

The blue SN1 is strictly for guitars while the red SN2 will help tune any instrument via vibration or sound Colin kindly snagged an SN2 for me and sent it up. It is a really useful tuner, Beats my old Seiko quartz model hands off ermmm down

I love these clip-on tuners. They are so much more accurate than the others. Accuracy equals less time tuning. Plus they are affordable. I have a Korg PC-1 chromatic clip-on. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Korg-PC1-Pitchclip-Clip-on-Chromatic-Tuner-106904774-i1934340.gcGot it at Guitar Center for $20. Amazon has them for $13. It has a left handed feature so as a lefty, I don't have to read it upside down. It also turns itself off automatically if you forget.

The Snark does not care what hand you use, or how you want to clip it on. The unit sits on a double ball joint fixed to unit and the clip, so that it pivots around two fixed points that allow you to rotate and angle and position it any way that you prefer. The new ones I saw at the web site do not seem to have this particular feature anymore. It appears now that there is only one ball joint between the clip and the unit. It should still be pretty flexible though for either right or left handed use http://www.snarktuners.com/index.html

Just got one of these. Love it. Never experimented with open/alternate tunings before, but now that I have the Snark, it's way easy to mess around with them. Very, very cool.

One big plus for the Snark... I dropped it the other day and it popped apart at the base. I got out a small pair of pliers and after taking time to line up the base and stem- the ball went right back into the socket and its worked just like new.
Durable??? I think So

I have a Snark SN-2 and I've even tuned the banjo with it. Absolutely LOVE it. Was in my stocking at Christmas (alongside some other cool stuff). If it comes apart, I use a bit of force and pop it back in, and the funny thing is, you don't need to have it clipped on for it to pick up sound, and mine I think has the double-ball joint, and when I'm at the folk festival later this year it's going with me.

I just bought a new Super Tight Snark. It seems to be even better than the originals. About the same price and more sensitive to the vibrations of the guitar.
