In growing darkness I await For night to weave it’s spell Through quiet hours I listen for The sounds I know so well
The softest rustle of the grass That lets me know you’re near The gentle voice that whispers low And tells me that you’re here
A soft caress and slow, sweet kiss A hunger in your eyes My heart cries out with love for you More than you realize
I come alive beneath your touch As one our spirits soar Then held beneath the moon I sleep And cannot ask for more

Jen, I have recently come back to the forum. I really enjoyed this piece. I could picture it as I read. With the weather the way it has been lately, I think I may want to spend some time under the moon. It gave me a sense of completeness. Thank you for sharing. Anne

Just go through the lines and feel the fear:
What role will you play tonight, Oh poor and heartsick soul? Another part to fill and tame, A brand new life to mould.
Can anything redeem you? Anyone to bring you home? A simple thing to venture out, And find you where you roam.
And what, if finding you is done, Will you ever truly heal? Will you open up to someone, Or allow yourself to feel?
Locked inside a cracking shell, No music finds your ears. And though you have so many friends, No one can dry your tears.

Anne,
Welcome back to the forum! Thanks for taking time to read and comment on this. I'm glad you enjoyed. I love the night when the weather is right and the skies are clear. There's something magical about the evening and moonlight. It's inspirational and I use it quite a bit in my writing.

"If someone is truly a jerk, or truly is not deserving of any positive reply from you, polite indifference is the best response you can give. Do not insult. Do not slam. Do not follow the urge to be nasty. Simply be politely indifferent." –Brian Austin Whitney
