The goal of our "Song Challenges" is to write songs/lyrics on demand within set parameters. We don't critique each other's songs in this thread (but you can say you like someone's song if you want to.) Please post your original works. If you have already written a song/lyric that fits within the parameters, please feel free to post it.
The new challenge is to write a song that has "shame" in it. It can be in the hook or anywhere in the song. It can be serious or amusing. Your call.
Good luck to you!

This is one I wrote a long time ago.
Don’t Sin Anymore Unpublished Work ©1996 J.M. Richardson
Accuser: 1. This woman, she is in shame. She broke the law – she’s to blame. This woman, she should be killed! That is the law Moses willed.
2. This woman’s sin is too great. Her punishment cannot wait. Guilty, she hasn’t a prayer. What are you writing down there?
Jesus: 3. Is anyone here without sin? Then let the stoning begin. Why have your faces turned red? Was it something I said?
Accuser: 4. Where are they going – what’s wrong? Can writing in dust be that strong? Oh, excuse me but I have to go. How in the world did he know?
Jesus: 5. Woman, we are alone. Not one stone has been thrown. You aren’t condemned by me. Don’t sin anymore – you are free!

Hi Jean,
This one I wrote last month sometime, sounds like it fits the bill.
Put A Dollar In The Jukebox
Verse 1 Put a dollar in the jukebox baby, play me a sad sad song, The one 'bout love gone wrong I'm going through, Play me a sad song darlin', The one that helps me justify what I'm going to do.
Verse 2 This time he hurt me real bad, he's hurt me bad before, "Bout time he gets a dose of what he's done to me, Buy me another "Budweiser", Show you what a good time I can be.
Chorus 1 I know he's seen, droolin' 'round too much, over a little young thing he hired, I don't feel, his attention anymore, Something's going on, although he denies it.
Verse 3 Order up another bottle, "Bud" you are my friend, But my mind's on the guy at the bar keeps lookin' at me, "Bud" you're a good friend tonight, But a lovers arms is what I need.
Chorus 2 Tonight I need, a sad sad song, and sweet embrace, hold me close, I might drink 'til the last dog dies, To justify the one, who's going to take me home.
Bridge When I'm not home come morning, wonder how you're going to feel, Find out if you really care, Double dose of what I feel like, turn about on you seems fair.
Verse 4 You hurt me one time baby, shame shame shame on you, Let you hurt me again so shame on me, Or am I a spiteful woman, To show you what you done ain't nothin' to me

Hey again Jean, Since I had posted one that was already written, I thought it was probably OK if I sat down and wrote one on a whim. I lke to get the practice of writing on demand.
This one is pretty quick and silly.
Shame on both us two
Verse 1 You put me to shame, and you're the one to blame, Think you're gonna cheat on me, and I won't do the same, So shame is on me now, for what I do to you, Cause of what you done to me, shame was first on you.
Chorus If misery loves company, then we're two of a kind, My middle name should be Revenge, for what goes through my mind, You do things to me for spite, I do them back to you, They shoulda named you Spiteful, shame on both us two.
Verse 2 Why don't we break up, we're not even friends, We've learned to hate each other, but we don't let it end, We still play a game, that puts us both to shame, Tear each others world apart, with misery and pain.
Chorus If mysery loves company, then we're two of a kind, My middle name should be Revenge, from what goes through my mind, You do things to me for spite, I do them back to you, They shoulda named you Spiteful, shame on both us two.
Bridge Shame on me for how I feel, shame on you for who you are, Shame on us we stay together, and tear us both apart.
Chorus If mysery loves company, then we're two of a kind. My middle name should be Revenge, from what goes through my mind, You do things to me for spite, I do them back to you, They shoulda named you Spiteful, shame on both us two.

Fun Challenge...here's one that's both serious AND humorous:
"SHAME" (C) 2009 by Stan Good, BMI
When You Were a Kid, The Lawn Sprinkler'd Dance & Next Thing Ya Know, You Were Out There With No Pants & Your Mama Would Give You The ULTIMATE Glance & Say "SHAME"...
& You'd Go to Church, & Sit in That Pew & Talk Right-&-Left to The Folks Next-to-You Your Parents Said "SHHH" And Gave You a Clue You Were "SHAMED"...
(BRIDGE, MOD UP) The More Your Grew Up & The More You Got Older You Got a Guilt-Trip, Lookin' Over Your Shoulder! All Of Them TSK-TSK's..Startin' To Smoulder In You...(How'd Ya Make It THROUGH?) Heh!
& Somehow Near-Puberty You Made The Connection That Women & Sex-Thoughts..Caused An Erection Which Messed-Up Your Dreams of Attaining Pedrfection (What a SHAME!)
And Little-By-Little Your Attitude Slowly Faded from Much You'd Regarded as Holy & You Set Your Sights..a Little More-Lowly Hey..NO SHAME!
The More You Grew UP..The MORE You Got-Wiser That SOME "Shameful Stuff" kinda..TANTALIZED Her & Sex was a Powerful TRANQUILIZER... For You...(& HER TOO!)
So NOW That You're SHAMELESS, & Had a Few Kids You're Doin' The SAME STUFF..Your Parents Did: The Sprinkler is OUT..The BUTT-CHEEKS Stay-HID (When You Say.."SHAME!")
But SHAME Never Screw-Up A Kid For All-Life SOMEHOW They Still End Up as Husband-&-Wife And SHAME Helps FORBIDDEN-STUFF Sure COME-TO-LIFE (As You Get Older)
(TAG) SHAME Sure Goes OUT-The-WINDOW When You Turn OUT The Lights (As You Get Older...!)

Hi Jean,
This came to me while I was pulling dandelions this evening...
“It’d Be A Shame” ©2009 Lynn Orloff
It’d be a shame to waste a moment when it’s such a perfect day We could stroll through fields of flowers and I would pick you a bouquet It’d be a shame if we don’t rearrange our schedule just for this Just think of all we’d miss
It’d be a shame to miss the ocean hear the waves pound on the shore We could run and feed the seagulls laugh when they would beg for more It’d be a tragedy of sorts to simply shun this kind of bliss Just think of all we’d miss
Bridge: Oh what a shame if we dismiss, an opportunity like this When Mother Nature’s painted such a scene I’m making you an offer that I hope you won’t refuse Who knows where all this playfulness will lead….
It’d be a shame to miss the stars tonight, let’s take a little walk I’d love to see the moonlight kiss your shoulders when we talk To not take all this magic in, would surely be our biggest sin So darling may I ask you one more time For it would be a shame to pass it by

I am gonna give this a try...this is brand new just wrote it when I saw the post...didn't make any changes to it and just did it for the writing exercise. Thanks Jean.
'Shame on You for Being AShamed of Me' You only want me around when you’re friends are not You say I cramp your style cause I’m not that hot you usually date the super model type and being with me kinda makes you uptight
Well- Shame on you for being ashamed of me I am beautiful on the inside It’s too bad you can’t see Got alot to offer if you’d treat me right But that is not your style And I’m leaving tonight I am better than you’ll ever be So, shame on you for being ashamed of me.
We are allright when we’re just one on one But when others are around our time is done You introduce me as your friend and not your lover You’d be embarrassed if they discovered
Well- Shame on you for being ashamed of me I am beautiful on the inside It’s too bad you can’t see I got alot to offer if you’d treat me right But that is not your style And I’m leaving tonight I am better than you’ll ever be So, shame on you for being ashamed of me. vicki

Hi Jean,
I noticed your challenge and I had some time this evening, so I thought I'd write a lyric for it.
Thanks for the challenge!

LESSON IN SHAME
(c)2009 CG King
I learned countless life lessons Starting at a tender age From a Grandpa I loved dearly Whose advice I consider sage
He always taught right from wrong The importance of a man's good name But the lesson I remember most Was the one he taught on shame
(Chorus)
He said:
There is no shame in being the bigger man Or turning to others for a helping hand There is no shame in doing your very best Or kneeling in prayer when put to the test But when you do wrong and on others place the blame Well, there, my child...is where you find the shame
That moral compass Grandpa gave me Has helped to guide me on life's way I thank Grandpa with all my heart His words live on in me today
(Chorus)
He said:
There is no shame in being the bigger man Or turning to others for a helping hand There is no shame in doing your very best Or kneeling in prayer when put to the test But when you do wrong and on others place the blame Well there my child...is where you find the shame

Calvin, that's good as are the others. I've got to tell the other night when Matt got the boot from "Idol" he blurted something out and I thought what a great title and only Calvin could do it justice. He said I'm "The Cat With Nine Lives".
have fun, John
