Hi Mark
You seem to have a whole album of songs now. I wonder what you could call it, how about:

"Hoping That You'll Call" (c)2009 Melody-Mark Kaufman/Lyrics-Lynn Orloff/Vocals-Wendy Dumond
Snow outside my door And it can stay there Cos inside I'm nice and warm Snuggled up with some hot cocoa and a book Hoping that you'll call
I don't know why we quarreled at the party But I do know that I'm sorry And I'm hoping you feel the same way too
The hour's getting late It's almost midnight And this book will have to wait Time to turn in but I don't think I can sleep Until I hear your voice
I don't know why we argued it was senseless Now I'm wide awake and restless And it's sure to be a long, long night
Instrumental Break 2:00 to 3:00
Wish that we could both take back the foolish things we said And I wish that we could start the night again I'm certain things would turn out rather differently And I wouldn't be here half out of my head
Snow outside my door It's 2 AM I'm counting moonbeams on my floor And I can't wait, not a single second more Until I hear your voice
And I don't know why we quarreled at the party But baby I'm so sorry Though it's late, I'll wait Hoping that you'll call

I love this! It's so appealing, like the 1930's...no! like the 50's...I don't know, but I love it. Thanks so much Lynn and Wendy for letting me hear this song in yet another way! Feels great. THANK YOU. -Mark

Hi Mark.
Hey I "appeal" to you to give us more, not now of course, you need a break!! I hope you know none of us would've taken a bite if we didn't have a delicious dessert to start with so keep em' coming Mr. Mark the Melody Magician. It was fun and fruitful and you deserve applause for exhausting your vocals and starting up this challenge in the first place. (Sound of LOUD applause). Thanks for the opportunity and Wendy and I are glad you "loved" the song!!! 30's or 50's, I don't know either. We'll have to ask an expert. Take care.
Best, Lynn

I got a wild idea last night Lynn and it was still with me this morning so I wrote a lyric to thank Mark for doing this challenge (and SO much more) I suggested maybe a bunch of us should either write songs about Mark or other of our forum's character's as a way of thanking Mark for this fabulous gesture. Well there are now two other Kaufman tribute songs posted (by Joice Marie and Calvin) ... Mark's blushing a little, but he'll get over it. They're down in Lyrics 3 if ya wanna drop by and check 'em out (or add your own)

HiDee Lyle/Mark! (Fun Tribute Song, Bro Greg!)
I've finally FOUND this Challenge..only had time to Listen to your tracks 2-3 times tonight..but here's the core of what seems to be Filtering Thru..a sorta Sinatra-y Song..Christmas..+ Travel (the Hook leaped out in about 5 seconds..the rest..about 20 minutes/I'm beat...hadda quit.) I'll return with a Maybe Bridge (that may or not fit Anything ya got. & guess it needs Another Verse...so I got Work-To-Do...IF ya tell me ya'd want me TO work further on it.)
NICE Melody..Relaxin' as all get out/Love It, Lyle, & Thanks for Sharing with the JP Folks!
"CHRISTMAS IN BRAZIL" (Lyrics so-far, (C) 2009 by Stan Good, BMI)
(VERSE) CHRISTMAS IN BRAZIL... Honey, I've been Saving..(For) CHRISTMAS IN BRAZIL... That Vacation You-Been-Craving Honey, Say You Will... Spend Our CHRISTMAS IN BRAZIL... (Oh..Yeah...)
(CODA) It Should Be a Thrill.. The Seasons are Upside-Down There..... And I Booked a Flight... It's Leaving..Tonight... (Oh..Yeah...) (For..)
CHRISTMAS IN BRAZIL... Honey, Pack a Suitcase Fast (for) CHRISTMAS IN BRAZIL... Got This Week-Off, Make it Last Hey Honey, Say You Will..(Spend) This CHRISTMAS IN BRAZIL!--
(HERE it needs Something BRIGHT and AIRY..../ Here It Oughta SING Like a CANARY... & Maybe a Line Or Two To Push Some STRINGS..A Few... Nothing..Too-Frantic...Yeah, Let's Keep It ROMANTIC...(for)
(VERSE) CHRISTMAS IN BRAZIL Sun & Sand at Sao Paulo CHRISTMAS IN BRAZIL We'll Be There Tomorrow IF you Say You Will... Spend This CHRISTMAS IN BRAZIL
(TAG) Our Love Will Get It's Fill Spending CHRISTMAS..In BRAZIL--
Thanks for Da Gettaway, Bro Lyle..it was a Fun One! Big Guy-Hug, Stan

Actually this whole thread has given me an idea for another challenge. Mark’s melody had a very old school/lounge feel about it and could have easily fitted in 60/70 years ago. So my suggestion for the next challenge would be to pick an era or style and attept to write songs to fit that criteriia, both lyricist and musicians could hook up on this like in Collab challenge #3.
Here are some thoughts on possible challenges:
Early Beatles style pop song no longer than 2 min 30 secs. 60s Tamla Motown sound Show song in the style of one of the classic musicals Beach Boys Spector Big Hair 80’s rock Saturday Night Fever disco
Any other ideas? Worth starting another thread?
Cheers
Nige

So glad I stopped back here Greg or I would've missed you post. Thoughtful idea for sure, maybe that's why you are the "idea guy".
Also Nigel, brilliant idea. How fun that would be. If we did that we have to start numbering them perhaps to keep it a bit organized. One idea might be a song that Frank Sinatra might sing in that classic Frank Sinatra style.
Have a good day all!
