i'm glad to see a few new people from the Big Island. i'm one of the co-founders of the Oahu Songwriters Group (a collective of 100+ songwriters focused on collegially helping each other with all aspects of writing [e.g., critiquing meetings, NSAI-curriculum workshops, co-writing gatherings], performing [e.g., songwriter showcases, gig referrals], recording [e.g., studio database, session vocal/musical help], promotion/placement [e.g., mailing list, new subcommittee on tv/film placement, our own radio show to discuss songwriting and air selected member songs], and community service [e.g., workshops in schools, performances/workshops for non-profit events]) - but, for some reason unbeknown to me, we've never decided to make the oSg act as the representative agency for a Hawai`i JPF chapter...perhaps too many things on the plates of too few directors. regardless, i've often hosted visiting performing songwriters from the other islands on the radio show and at our showcases...so if you are ever coming through this way, give me a holler at the email address for the radio show (barefootbobsongwritershowcase@gmail.com) or the myspace page ( www.myspace.com/songwritershowcaseradioshow). also, as an attendee of the annual songwriter festival on kauai( www.kauaimusicfestival.com), i've also gotten to know many of your colleagues on the big island...if you plan to attend this year, you'll meet many others (as well as writers, gurus, and industry folk from all over the US and elsewhere) - if not, let me know & i can hope to put you in touch with others. hopefully, bfb
