Trying our wings
Verse
It’s you me and the highway
Looking for a place to land.
Where the sun shines and waves roll
On a pristine stretch of sand.
Pre chorus
We’re running from the past as fast as we can.
With no destination or plan.
We’re looking for a place that’s a change of pace.
A way to escape the rat race.
Chorus
We may rise we may fall.
May see some bad things
But no one can blame us
For trying our wings.
Verse
It’s you me and a promise
That we’ll live a life of love.
It’s you me and the future
That we have been dreaming of
Pre chorus
We’re running from the past as fast as we can.
With no destination or plan.
We’re looking for a place that’s a change of pace.
A way to escape the rat race.
Chorus
We may rise we may fall.
May see some bad things
But no one can blame us
For trying our wings.
Bridge
The past and present are broken
So our choice is to fly from them.
When you go in search of a new life
Sometimes you go out on a limb.
Chorus
We may rise we may fall.
May see some bad things
But no one can blame us
For trying our wings.

Was hoping for some previous comments on this way to create a platform for my own view. Anyhow, this has been a recurring theme throughout much of history. The rat race has no doubt existed forever. Yet I often wonder if all those youth who once promoted such things as "free love" were the ones who ended up getting us into the most recent version of the rat race once they reached midlife circa 1985 or so.

No doubt. Unrealistic dreams often create disillusioned cynics.
