Should You Believe in Miracles - 07/12/19 02:25 PM
Don't recall exactly where the idea for this one came, but it's an age-old question.
SHOULD YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES
c2018 Brian Beecher
A man asked me the other night
Should you believe in miracles
I’m now sixty-five and out of shape
And now dependent on some pills
In March of nineteen eighty-nine
I lost my loving wife
Someone drunk doing ninety crashed her car
And the impact took her life
Oh, oh, the impact took her life
From that day on I’ve seldom known
A really happy day
Have even shied away from women
When the would come my way
Will never find one to replace her
So I let my health run down
Before the pills there was booze and beer
Every time I went to town
Is there a project you want to get done today
Get your plans in order and you’ll be on your way
Once you’ve written all the details
You will find your days are filled
Then I told him that you should believe in miracles
Yes I told him that you should believe in miracles
He said to me I’m gonna get busy
Tidying up my workspace first
My life’s been void most of the days
Since my depression became worse
Why not enjoy a walk in nature
Dancing to your favorite tunes
First he would clean his old garage
Making music with that broom
Oh, making music with that broom
You could even fall in love again
At the age of sixty-five
Meet a woman who would spoil you
Make you glad to be alive
Could be a time of new beginnings
But you have to make your bed
To gain freedom from depression pills
To enjoying life instead
Is there a project you want to get done today
Get your plans in order and you’ll be on your way
Once you’ve written all the details
You will find your days are filled
Then I told him that you should believe in miracles
Yes I told him that you should believe in miracles
It would be several months
Before I saw that man again
Although there were so many times
When I had wondered how he’d been
It was a time of new beginnings
Were the words he said to me
Met a woman who does everything to bring
Balance and harmony
Yes she brings, yes she brings balance and harmony
Come next summer we’ll be married
Pretty soon we’ll set the date
Will be a great time to plant the seeds
Of what we want to create
No longer need to see the doctor
And I have thrown away the pills
So son I’m telling you today
You should believe in miracles
