Intro: 8 bars (Key of C)

I don't know why I loved you so,
When I see you don't care.
I don't know why I loved you so,
When you don't play it fair.

Each time you talk to me,
You treat me like a flea.
You make me feel so low,
I don't know why I loved you so.
.... .... .... ....

I think it's time for me to go
And look for a new beat.
For now I have to let you know
I'm standing on my feet.

Each time I'll think of you,
I'll tell you, Baby blue:
You've made me feel so low,
I don't know why I loved you so.
.... .... .... ....

I've had a bad time. I've found a good rhyme.
Now I'm feeling fine. You're out of my mind.

Instrumental: 8 bars

I don't know why I loved you so.
You didn't really care.
I know that's right for me to go
'cause you can't play it fair.

Next time I'll think of you,
I'll tell you, Baby blue:
T'was right for me to go,
I don't know why I loved you so.

T'was right for me to go,
I don't know why I loved you so.
I don't know why I loved you so.
I don't know why I loved you so.

Guy,

A nice melody you have going with this . . . a lot good going on here. If you were going to revisit this one--and I'm not clear if you're looking for comments or just sharing . . . then a couple of thoughts on the lyrics: I might choose to say “why I love you so” rather than “loved” simply because it matches the tense of the accompanying lines, . . . but that said, I could see where it’s a conscious choice. Something to think about in terms of tense throughout the tune.

Beyond that, again if you’re up for revisiting, I might suggest focusing on the bridge, where the rhymes seem a bit forced. For example, I’m not sure I’m convinced she’s out of his mind, when he writes a whole song about her.

All just thoughts that you should take with a huge grain of salt, Guy. Use or lose, as they say. There's no wrong or right, and if there's is, I'm the last one that would know the difference. smile In the end, go with what feels right for you.

All the best,

Deej
