Christmas Time. Vic and Alan

Christmas Time. Vic and Alan - 04/03/18 01:20 PM

Ok. I know it's not that time but thought it better to get any suggs in before the big day.
Originally Alanjack's lyric which I added some comic lines and a bridge to.

Christmas Time ©2018 Alan Evans & Vic Arnold
V1
The time is near for Christmas cheer
Snowballs made, lined up to throw
Grandma's here, drinking beer
and big, pot bellied snowmen grow
One to be ready...two I'm unsteady...
...three, my ducks aren't in a row
V2
Christmas trees and chilly breeze
Fairy lights all of a glow
Christmas time and it's all fine
but mom and dad have no cash flow
Oh one to be ready...two I'm unsteady...
...three I stepped on my own toe
Inst.
Bridge
Strangers on the streets are shaking hands
Stepping time to that Salvation Army band
Oh what a silly season of good cheer
and ain't we glad that Christmas only comes
around just once a year
Inst.
V3
Christmas day more games to play
Another year has passed us all
This one's done. How time does run
and now grandma's talking to the wall
One, to be ready ... two, unsteady ... three, I think I took a fall
V4
Christmas night oh what a sight
Kids are screaming, dad still snores
Mom's nose shines from too much wine
and grandma's passed out on the floor
One, to be ready ... two, unsteady ... three, I think I'll have one more
Jingle bells ... jingle bells ...
Jingle bells

Hahahahaha...made us think of "Merry Christmas From The Family" by Robert Earl Keene. Couple real families going with these two songs:)

No nits...sounds Christmas ready to us. Love the lyric, the bouncy feel and the vocal....and, hey, gotta love granny too!

Hi J&B.
I hadn't heard that but it's a good 'un.
I love those old Roger Miller songs too.

Thanks for chipping in.

Hi Alan and Vic:

Enjoyed your cute Christmas collaboration. If you plan to "pitch it" now might be a good time. Funny Vic should mention Roger Miller. I used to see him often as we crossed paths at the old Nashville airport. He always seemed to be "at ease" with himself and the public in general. Loved his songs, too.

Best of luck with this one, guys. Entertaining and certainly not cut from common Christmas cloth... LOL!

Thanks Dave.
Roger miller was such a one off, I can't think of who else to pitch it to.

Re: Christmas Time. Vic and Alan - 04/04/18 11:08 AM

Time to get your Christmas songs in before the rush.
It has some good lines but for a festive offering with hopefully thoughts of radio plays?
Perhaps trim it down somewhat making it a bit more quick fire and snappy.
Well thought through but my feeling is it's too long
Again a good time for Yuletide songs lads

Re: Christmas Time. Vic and Alan - 04/04/18 01:47 PM

Thanks for the suggs Travis but there'll be a million Christmas songs written as you suggest. Ours is a parody on the usual cliche.
2:45 isn't long as songs go although it could always be trimmed a tad.

A super job on the production, Vic. Nice choice of instruments. Nice vocals and a very good mix.

Well done to you both.

Cute! You gave this a nice cheery feel, Vic, and you gave him good material to work with, Alan. Nothing like the holidaze to bring out the party animal in Grandma!
