Cool Dog II - 03/04/18 02:40 PM

Good Morning JPFrs all over the place! It's been close to 10 years since I last posted this song. At that time it received comments ranging from not serious enough to really be a blues song to not funny enough to be a novelty song. I didn't want to rush into anything so the other day, I finally got around to dusting it off and re-working some of the lyrics.

It's just a rough self-recording (for now) so if you have some production ideas I'm listening, like should I consider a ukelele? What I'm more interested in though are your reactions to the lyrics. I'm leaning towards the novelty category and while I'm not expecting ROFLMAO, do let me know if that happens or if there's any coffee snorted through your nose, etc, etc. Definitely let me know if you find nothing humorous at all or have any thoughts on how to make it a better song in general. Just honest gut reactions are what I'm looking for. Thanks for listening.

I知 Cool Dog, bless my soul
I like jazz on the truck radio
I知 Cool Dog, me and my guy
Always on the prowl for something fine

Wind in my face, oh I could ride all day
He thinks he痴 boss, well I just let it slide because

I知 Cool Dog, got Rex my bud
My second in running the neighborhood
Cool Dog on the street
Sniffing any action that we meet

Sleep until noon then howl all night at the moon whoa
But I never roam too far away from home, no, no

I知 Cool dog (cool dog) yeah, yeah
Cool dog (cool dog) yeah, yeah

Forced to the vet while under duress
My pals come home and are never the same
I keep my legs crossed and hope for the best
Don稚 ever want to have to change my name

I知 Cool Dog to my lady Sal
When I go carousing she gives me hell
I知 her Cool Dog and she knows
I値l bring her something stinky cause I love her so

I live like a king, I wouldn稚 change a thing, no
In my last life I must have got it right, that痴 why

I知 Cool Dog (cool dog) yeah, yeah
Cool Dog (cool dog) yeah, yeah
Cool Dog (cool dog) yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I知 Cool

Uke would fit. Maybe a slide guitar or harmonica fills.
It's a cute piece.

Hi Ricki:

I enjoyed hearing this. It works... as is... but can't help wondering what "more production" would do for it? (I'm comparing this one in my mind with Wendy D's latest offering... before and after adding more production.) The two of you really have vocal abilities I enjoy so much. We are lucky to have your combined creativity here at JPF.

As always, best of luck with "Cool Dog." ----Dave

Thanks for listening, Dave and glad you enjoyed. I'm honored to be mentioned in the same sentence as Wendy D...she's my hero! smile

If you could do an animated video for this it would take off...

Perhaps find an animated cartoon forum and offer it up for someone to create one?

Hey Ricki:

I wasn't laughing - but I was smiling all the way through. smile

It's cute - like it could be in a dog movie soundtrack.

A couple of years ago we got a puppy. He's a big dog now. I can imagine playing this in the truck while he's riding beside me. In fact, I think I will.

Actually, a uke might be a good fit for this.

Thanks Scott...a smile is better than a frown. I might need to re-think my sense of humor. smile
