Just the Way We Are
By David Snyder

V1

Well I’ve never been to New York City
I’ve never seen Fifth Avenue
And if they ask me to order some fillet mignons girl
You know I wouldn't have a clue

PreChorus

And I’ve never looked too deep inside of me
Cause I don’t think there’s too much there to know

Chorus:

But if you don’t mind
My dirty old truck
And you don’t mind this dirty old bar
And you don’t mind this dusty old house
I’ll return the favor...And take us
just the way we are...Just the way we are girl

V2

Well I’ve never made more than a million dollars
but I know how spit tobacco on a country night
and I know how to pound some shooters after hours
and I know how to dodge a trooper running every damned red light

PreChorus

And I’ve never looked too deep inside my soul
Cause I don’t think there’s too much there to know

Chorus:

But if you don’t mind
My dirty old truck
And you don’t mind this dirty old bar
And you don’t mind this dusty old house
I’ll return the favor….And take us
just the way we are…Just the way we are girl

Bridge

And there’s something ‘bout the smell of a Georgia pine
That’s putting only one thing on my mind
Try hard enough and you might crack my spine
But if it feels good, girl well that’s just fine ….

REPEAT CHORUS

I can't imagine how someone could listen to the song without leaving a comment. Loved the vibe of the story-line... and your "unvarnished vocal" and sometimes "crusty lyrics." You pulled it off quite well, David. Good to hear a semi-serious side to you 'cause it's really hard to tell your real style of writing and vocalizing in the short time I've been exposed to you. But somewhere hidden in all that colloquial laced song... the real you emerges a bit. I'm suspecting you have not shared your best work with us yet. Maybe it's because you're under contract or have a deal in the works (I hope so)... but eventually, we are going to learn all your ways... and we will be better for it. Enjoyed this. Send more. ----Dave
David,

Yeah, I'm digging this is in a big way. I really like your vocal on this one--it's distinct, special, and fits the melody and tune like a glove, a warm and snug. And that chorus is an ear worm. Pretty sure I'll wake up tomorrow morning with "But if you don't mind" buzzing in my head. Very cool!

Keep doing what you do, sir--

All the best,

Deej
One of your best, My Snyder.

An exceptional write. Start to finish.

A beautiful production (also one of your best).
A heartfelt vocal delivery (also one of your best).

A joy to listen to.

deja vu all over again...
LOVED this SONG...Everything about it including your simple expressive voice. I think you looked deep in your Soul here. Great Song...

Thanks Dave! I have some other stuff coming up that might slowly but surely reveal the personality within the personality, as long as you are not expecting anything predictable.

That will never happen in a million years man.

Thanks for the kind words.

Stayed tuned though. I have something very special coming up for ya man.

Well written song Mr. Snyder. A key change up after the bridge would be a nice touch.

Yeah, that's a really good idea, Iggy. Would be a nice touch.

Thanks for suggesting it. I will have to give that a whirl.

Mighty fine craftsmanship David.

Is that a cello I hear... didn't see it on the instruments list but it seems subtly but perfectly placed throughout.

The song has a really cool overall vibe... strengthened by your very cool vocal performance.
Dave,

Yeah, I agree your wholesome vibe works quite well and truly is what many prefer. Great song by the way......

Not sure if I like the guy, with his dirty old ways and habits but it's a clever and amusing lyric, David.

Vic
The lyrics in this are truly genius ....

"Try hard enough and you might crack my spine
But if it feels good, girl well that’s just fine …."

Brilliant!
