I started out with the first three verses, and tidbits of other ideas and got stuck on where to go with the lyric. The topic was very important to me, and I didn't want to mess it up by overthinking it, so I ask a good friend and fellow lyricist Bryan Williamson, to help with the rest of the lyric. Tony saw it and jumped on it, and everyone else followed. Thoughts and pointers always welcome.

Nothing Matters

What's happening in the street,
blood smears and stains concrete
Hatred pours like April rain;
has our country gone insane,
will we ever be the same?

Two sides, both in the wrong
One blood, many colors strong
Injustice goes both ways
Violence; it never pays

Something has got to give
this is not the way to live
Just a way for dreams to die
kiss them all a sad goodbye

(Chorus)
Nothing matters, If nothing matters...
Lives are shattered, If nothing matters
Flags of battle, torn and tattered
To politicians we never mattered

Armed guards patrol the halls
Graffiti tags on school walls
Bigotry is never dead
Fear and hate from talking heads

Driving on the city streets
Windows down in the breeze
Flashing blue lights, siren
Check the color of your skin

Chorus: =======

Cold blue lines are never crossed
Images of love lost
Reality is in your hands
A uniform don't make the man

The topic is obviously depressing but I enjoyed some of your word choices. I very much enjoyed the execution of the music. The musical structure sounded familiar but your group of musicians rendered it well. Nice vox. Good song. Regards.

Wow! Lots of truth here on top of a strong melody. The Beatles might have done this at their peak. Nice one, James.

Nice one.

I'd have preferred it more cynical myself, that is:
omit the "if" and edit the line "this is not the way to live", maybe one or two others, too. But then - that would be me ;-)
