Hello everyone,

Sorry to have been gone so long. My computer crashed completely the beginning of Dec. and it is still not working properly. My texgt is not showing up as I type so this will be strange until I can get it back working properly. Have been reading along and will try to catch up as I can . Thank you all for asking about me and let me know what you want to talk about.

Good to be back.

What Kevin said about Compatibility Mode in IE Explorer. Or try Google Chrome, Safari, or Opera.

Glad you're back grin

Still doing the same thing Kevin. Can't find the "Tools" part.

Still trying.

MAB: You probably have the menu turn off. In the bar just below where the Internet address shows, do a "right click" (just keep right clicking in different spots near the top). Sooner or later you will get a context menu that has "Menu Bar" on it -- check that and the tools menu will appear. I use FireFox on this PC and I just launched IE7 and that isn't on there -- maybe it is an IE8 issue.

You're right Steve. They're soft and squishy. Hope I can kiss one again someday.

Sorry Kevin. just can't find it.

Tools is at the far right just above the window this page is on inside the browser frame. You might have toolbars etc. loaded which can make it tough. There might be a blue Question Mark next to it on the browser. It's on the same line as the little house that is home page, then other icons like email and a printer, then the word Page, then Safety and then finally Tools. It's a drop down menu. You'll see Compatibility view there and just select it and all will work fine.

Great to see you back, Marc. Love your new website. Really nice to get better access to your music in the player!

Any particular reason for the new promotion?

Folks can check it out here http://www.marcalanbarnette.com/fr_home.cfm

Hey guys,

I am feeling so stupid but I can't see "Tools" anywhere. as much as I write I am still an idiot when it comes to tech stuff. I am looking on every single place and there is just nothing there. I am typing this and have to wait a couple of seconds for the cursor to catch up, basically this is like typing with my eyes closed. It is only happening here. So I will keep looking.

Magne, the reason for the change was a new site called "Band Zoogle.' My girlfriend Tina Dee Babe, is a computer wiz so she started doing it. It links up all my stuff and streamlines a lot more, plus has my songs playing in the back ground.

I like the colors better as well, I like black a lot so that is what we used.

Today is a huge snow day here in Nashvegas so I have some time to write. Will drop a few more things on here as I have had some very interesting things hapening lately that some of you might find interesting.

Thank you Linda for the intereview. I really like that thing. good questions. For some odd reasons I am getting a LOT of requests for intereviews, live shows and going out and doing workshops. Atlanta next weekend and Michigan and Winnipeg Canada in two weeks.

A few of the artists I have been working with have been doing well on the charts and some of their interviews and CD's have mentioned me so I guess some fo that plays in.

So if you want to read a few things I'll post them. Can ignore if you want to. For now I'll be typing like Ray Charles. Excuse the typos.

MAB, Where are you going in Michigan? Don't forget to bring your snow boots and gloves. It's cold up here this time of the year.
Posted By: Marc Barnette Re: MAB Back - 01/21/11 05:15 PM
Hey Dan,

Right now it is three inches of new snow here in Nashville and around 28 degrees. We've had a lot of this recently so I think I am ready. I've spent quite a bit of time in Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, Toronto, in the winter (I tend to go when no one else will)
so I have seen it all before. After Michigan I am going even farther North to Winnepeg Canada.

I'll be in Kalamazoo, Michigan for five dayas of shows, workshops, private lessons and meet and greets. I think I am booked pretty much every minute I am there. I work about 15 hour days when I am out on the road.

From there I go to Winnipeg for 9 days. Same thing. The majority of what I am doing is working with people in one on one lessons. songwriting, performance critiques, producing one group in the studiom getting to know them face to face. Most of them only know me through my music that they are doing. I have around 35 artists, bands, duos, who are all doing my songs as well as writing new things specifically for them.

I am already the main songwriter on about 50 CD projects worldwide. So this is kind of like the "Broadway producer" coming in to check on how his play is being performed. It gets really funny because most of them have never met me and know very little about personally. Most of them are doing my songs that have been pitched to them by one of my regular clients from there.

When they see me perform they usually get very nervous. I have a lot of fun because I am like the Marine drill instructor. When I work with them it is the equivalant of firing machine gun fire over their heads and making them crawl through a bunch of mud and guts.I can be terrifying. I love it.

But they turn out much better performers and writers. It is the "Teach a man to fish" senario. If I do it right, it really brings a lot to their overall game. At least I hope so. If they don't wash out. About half either back off or quit entirely, when they realize how hard all this is and where the bar is. So in many ways I save them a LOT of money and time. But if one guy like me can make them quit, they weren't mean to do it anyway.

But we will be doing shows around and some meet and greets. If you are near the area, come on around. Love to meet you.

Marc,
If you haven't defragged your computer I suggest you do so. At the Top left of the page you should see View. If you do, click on it. From there it should show Tool Bars. If you see Menu Listed and it is not checked, check it with your mouse. That should show your tool bar so you can see it. Then you will see the logo Tools. Don't you just love Computer's. If all else fails take your computer to a computer specalist and have it looked at.

Ray,

Thanks. The entire hard drive was replaced and the computer completely defragged a few weeks ago. That is what has been keeping me going through all this. I think there is something simple that I am just missing. but that is why they make snowy days isn't it?

Marc, right click on the top of your browser area by the "Help" and enable "Command Bar". Then you should see "tools" at the right side of your browser.

Marc, I gotta ask: Is your girlfiend's name really "Tina Dee Babe"? And if it is, why haven't you written a song about her?
"Tina Dee Babe/ I'm her slave", etc?

Hi Marc, I had the same problems many times - viruses, PC crashes...to avoid to be unsocial I have PC and laptop,
also I have 2 internet providers (one of them has 3G
technology and it's installed on laptop, so, even
while I'm away from my city I can watch everything via
internet)
Nice to see you again.

Ott,

Her name is actually Swanson. I call all women "Dee Babes." Large sister hood. I have written dozens of songs about Miss Dee babe.If you view "less is More" on my web site, that is all about us.

Hello Alek, good to see you too. How goes the language barrier?

Marc,
If you used a Computer Repair Service they may have been able to recover most of your files. If you did it yourself and still have the old drive you may still be able to have someone do a recovery. I had a computer crash and the service saved a lot of it.

Second, if you have Recovery Discs' you probably need to use them to get everything back in place as it were. If you don't have a recovery disc you will have a recovery program in your computer you can use.
Posted By: Marc Barnette Re: MAB Back - 01/22/11 07:55 PM
Ray,

I used an online service called "Carbonite" which backs up everything automatically. When you have thousands and thousands of files it takes a while to get everything back on . For the most part everything is working fine now. $50 a year can go along way.

I look forward to you sharing your experience and expertise again Marc. Welcome back.

Thank you Rick.

I actually was never gone. Had a computer glitch which kept me from contributing. But I did read along and when topics came up I had an opinion on or felt I could contribute something relevant, I forwarded some comments along with other members. Still having problems with my text box but sure I will find the secret to that soon as well. Actualy is kind of fun seeing how well you can type without seeing the text for about 3 seconds.

At any rate, glad to be able to converse with you. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

If you are using Internet Explorer you will have to add JPF to the compatibility settings.

At the top in Internet Explorer are tool bars. That's the gray bars running across the top.
There should be a tool bar with these tabs

File Edit View Favorites Tools Help
(IF you don't see the tool bar with those buttons RIGHT click the gray bar area.
A list of Bars will show up. Make sure the MENU BAR is checked.)

left click the TOOLS tab it will open a window with a menu
Look through the list Left click COMPATIBILITY VIEW SETTINGS

Under Add This Website type in jpfolks.com
Left click ADD

That should do it.

There's supposed to be a compatibility view button somewhere but I can never find it.

Bill,

I think you are trying to get revenge on me for beating you up on your songs. So you will probably be trying to lure me into some rabbit hole and get rid of me forever. But I will have the girlfriend, Ms. Dee Babe,to look at it. and if she says yes I will do what you say. I still think you are the evil person like in the movie TRON, trying to lure me in to death. So don't think I am not on to you in your evil lair.

If any of you never hear from me again. you can either blame Bill or celebrate him.
