I saw that, 9ne. I listen to DD all the time. Songs Hal Blaine played on, too. Eras are ending all the time.

You're right Rob. I was just explaining to my wife who the Wrecking Crew were. Dale has received credit, but probably not what he deserved.

Dick Dale is very influential, ive heard of jazz guitarists who learn his style just to up their own arsenal of technique

Link Wray was also very instrumental, no pun on the instrumental.

Dale was a nominee here one year and after his appearance we had a Surf Genre in the awards for the next several awards, but it seems to have faded away and now so has Dick. He had as original a sound as any guitarist in history in my view. Often mimic'd, never bettered though many tried. Sail on Dick!

I had an old beat up Fender Stratocaster when I was 12. It only had the two bass strings and no way left to add more. I borrowed a practice amp and whacked out Dick Dale's machine gun style runs up and down the neck. I played his album to death to learn it.
