I Ain't Going Back to Mexico - 05/10/11 06:54 PM

Here is kind of a fun one that Roy and I put together.
Kevin

I Ain’t Going Back To Mexico
Writers: Kevin Pearson and Roy Harris

I was sittin in a bar in Juarez
And the tequila went down like wine
I woke up in the desert
With the sunrise hurting my eyes
Found two tattoo's on my forearms
That said I'd gotten married twice
Now I’m a wanted man in Mexico
By some people that aren’t very nice

Chorus
I ain’t going back to Mexico
And friend that's a matter of fact
cause I don't want to die
For whatever happened. that night
and My dearest Maria and Consuelo
whoever you are……. I apologize
but these tattoo's tell me all I need to know
and I ain't going back to Mexico

V 2
I'm going to miss all the fine folks
and the friends down there that I made
but girls I bet your daddies
have already dug me a nice deep grave
if I said I loved you I'm sure I did
tequila does that sorta thing to my heart
best thing I can figure out now
is how to keep from being torn apart

Bridge
At a kitchen table in Laredo
I drink another bottle down to the worm
and wonder if the girls down in Mexico
still dream that one day I'll l return

I ain’t going back to Mexico
And friend that's a matter of fact
cause I don't want to die
For whatever happened. that night
and my dearest Maria and Consuelo
whoever you are……. I apologize
but these tattoo's tell me all I need to know
and I ain't going back to mexico

Hay Kevin and Roy,
Heckuva' job
Loved it--Flowed nicely.
The only place I stumbled on a couple read throughs was I wanted the C to read thusly_

Chorus
I ain’t going back to Mexico
That's a natural fact ALL RIGHT
I don't want to die down there
For whatever happened. that night
Maria and Consuelo
whoever you are……. I apologize
but these tattoo's tell me all I need to know
and I ain't going back to Mexico

That would work. We had discussed changing that line to And friend that's a matter of fact. Thanks for reading and commenting.

KEVIN AND ROY--

I think you are in a GROOVE on this one--I LOVE IT!

What would have happened if you got the WORM TOO?

SOUNDS LIKE A COWBOY CHA-CHA TO ME!

WRITE ON.

Was this meant to be an interpretation of some of the violence going on in that area these days? Not long ago I read a couple of books on that subject, and also rented the DVD of the movie which Jennifer Lopez starred in. Out of that I penned a piece i titled "Land of the Border Lords" and will post it in the not too distant future.

I believe at one time these Mexican border towns were havens for those who wanted to escape some of the restrictions in the US, especially concernins prostitution and, for the under 21 crowd, drinking. Now it is much too dangerous.

Peace,
Brian

lol Brian. This was just a fun song pre-drug lord days. Back in the 50s I spent a lot of time in Juarez when I was stationed in Albuquerque during my Navy days. And I did get a couple of tattoos there but didn't get married twice. Back when the booze was cheap and the bars overflowing with beautiful senoritas.

I wouldn't be caught dead there now. Well if I were caught there, with the conditions they have now, I probably would be dead.
