I wish I was sitting on an island beach,
Things I should care about out of my reach.
Playing guitar next to a cave somewhere,
I don’t play it well but then again I don't care.

I pay my taxes and I pay my bills,
I hurt my back and so I take some pills.
I work all day to help the man get rich,
I have my own dreams but I can't seem to scratch that itch.

I think we all agree that life’s not fair,
There’s got to be more than just sucking in air.

I'm on the verge of knowing but I just can't scratch that itch.

I met a sweet filly down in Brooklyn Heights.
We tried to paint the town most Friday nights.
Told her I was ready
To take the next step.

And a rash was all she left.

But I’m not the kind of man who just gives up hope,
I can loosen the knot at the end of this rope.
Below my skin my nerves are starting to twitch,
And they’re pushing me harder to try and scratch that itch.

Hi Geneva. I’m sorry it’s taken so long to reply. Unfortunately, I don’t get up here as often as I used to. Thank you for having a look at this and commenting. I’ll try to post, read and comment more often.
