The forgotten man

Verse
I fill those empty shoes;
Do what i need to do.
I fight battles for them.
I teach them how to lose.
Despite their resentment
I do the best I can
Only to become the;
The forgotten man.
Chorus
I wouldn’t expect for most of you to really understand.
What it feels like to raise a child and be the forgotten man.
The bible barely mentions Joseph after Jesus came.
Christmas is just about the only time that you’ll hear his name.
I wouldn’t expect for most of you to really understand.
What it feels like to raise a child and be the forgotten man.
Verse
He comes on holidays.
He buys them gifts for love.
I deal with their problems
Have to fix what he does.
I Love them like they’re mine.
I pray they’ll understand
That sometimes things don’t go
The way we wish they had.
Bridge
Someday I hope they realize
That I’ve done the best I can.
I hope that when they’re all grown up
They’ll think of me as dad
