Is There Somewhere We Can Go ©2017 Robert George BMI

Is there somewhere we can go
Where a sweet and sinful kiss,
Will be cloaked in midnight mist
And our shadow will not show

Sometimes the richest hidden treasure
Is a dark, forbidden pleasure

Is there somewhere we can dance
Where there are no moon and stars,
And the mirror in the bar
Won’t give us a passing glance

Some nights it feels as if we’re floating
Others, there’s a dark foreboding

How could I have fallen for a woman
That I barely knew
Sunrise tells me that I should feel guilty
But I rarely do

So…

Is there somewhere we can stay
So the city’s eyes can’t see,
Where we set our kisses free
When the daylight slips away

Sometimes the richest hidden treasure
Is a dark, forbidden pleasure

Oh, I need you somehow
So Honey, tell me now

Is there somewhere we can go
Is there somewhere we can go…

The flow of the rhyme is consistent and works very well throughout the whole lyrical piece.

I feel that the song is about getting away from something. Like two people feel that they cannot find a serene seclusion.

Or maybe they are hiding from someone or something.

It comes across as a love song where someone in the story feels pressured to get away.

I enjoyed it!

Couch, you have the soul of a great poet.

Hi Couch,

This is strikingly poignant with the feel of a tragedy!

thanks folks...this is a retelling of Dark End of the Street. James Carr's version is a classic but my favorite is by The Flying Burrito Brothers on Guilded Palace of Sin. smile
