I was NOT one of these folks who had an absentee father growing up, therefore not my own story but inspired by stories I have heard both from the famous and not-so-famous. Would work equally well with a male or female performance.

FINDING MY FATHER

Never been more ready to do the necessary work
Required to change my circumstances
But one thing showed up many times in my dreams
As I traveled through life’s many dances

On a cold rainy day I felt that it was time
I turn my attentions into fruition
Bound and determined I was to learn the truth
Even though folks thought I was acting with suspicion

Curiosity was readily in full effect
Now as the train is leaving the station
Going to seek the one who left the house long ago
And my heart clearly has a destination

It’s a situation that can put my progress at odds
But I’m determined in finding my father
Why did he leave my mom and me all alone
That’s a question I need to find out

Do I move forward or do I have what I need
Has created a big dose of challenge
Fact checking is in order so I decide to move on
And make the best effort to be gallant

Supporting decisions that were made last week
My partner encouraged me for to be able to meet
A tearful reunion was what I longed to seek
And I would be in his arms once again

Though it was a situation that put progress at odds
I succeeded in finding my father
He explained to me why he left us alone long ago
That’s a question that was answered at last

So many divorces today and so many absentee fathers. I am divorced but managed to hold on to my son, We have remained close.

this is the flip side of the song by zac brown's my old man.
its a good concept for a song. finding your father its easy nowadays plus we have a science of genetics to prove it. but theres is a big chances father left their children because he is a philandering fool. maybe a riff off from starwars between anakin and luke is also a good story to tell or a father left their children because something cool hes done like he save the universe from kingdom come.
