Thinking back on yesterday instead of trying to explain to someone why it took me so long to finish a certain song due to the guitar track and why I'm NEVER satisfied, I should have just showed her this list of guitarists I have seen live in my life smile lol

I haven't been to enough concerts in my life, but am satisfied with what I have seen. I have seen most of my guitar heroes who I will name, but I'm afraid that they aren't of the commercial nature. I'll start with the commercial guitarists and work my way down.

Steve Howe
Jimmy Page(for 15 minutes), the Zeppelin show was rained out due to a bad thunderstorm.
David Gilmour- Animals/Pink Floyd
Johnny Winter
Rick Derringer
Dicky Betts/Allman Bros.
Alvin Lee/Ten Years After
Frank Zappa

Lesser Known:

Doc Watson/3 times, once with the late Merle Watson
Norman Blake
Tony Rice/several times
Leo Kottke

I would love to see:
Chet Atkins
Merle Travis
BB King
Robert Johnson
Leadbelly
Duane Allman
Muddy Waters

Let me go add Dickie to the list, he was FABULOUS.

Thanks!

Mike if I'd seen half of the guys on your list I would have stopped playing by now. There are only two guys that I've seen who would fall into the guitar hero slot:

Joe Satriani x3
Steve Vai x2

This was a good few years ago when all I wanted to do was to be able to play like these two guys. But once I got into playing acoustic my taste changed a lot but I can still shred with the best of them.

Work for hire Acoustic/Electric studio quality guitar tracks. I will also produce and master any old/new work tapes up to demo standards. :-)

Glenn Tilbrook (many)
Eric Clapton (2+)
Steve Howe (2+)
Nils Lofgren (2+) (I’ve had a couple of chats with him too)

The Edge
John Lees (who kindly let me see his studio and play some of his guitars)
Dave Edmunds

I’ll be back later smile

Subjective topic. Good is opinion and opinion is based on surroundings and what mind altering chemicals you have recently put into your body while listening. I’ve been to some great concerts only to be surprised and disappointed when I heard a playback the following day. But all that being said:

• Mark Farner: Yeah you know I had to mention him
• Jimi Page 2X
• Jim Lea (Slade) 3 X
• Keith Ayers (Club Phred)
• George Harrison
• Eric Clapton
• Tony Iommi 3X Black Sabbath
• Jeff Beck
• Randy Rhoads 2X (Quiet Riot and Ozzy)
• Eddie VanHalen
• Mike Caro
• Chuck Berry
• Brian Setzer 2X (Stray Cats and Orchestra)
• Alvin Lee (Ten Years After)
• Steven Stills 3X

I don’t remember anyone saying anything about ‘good’ smile – it’s just who you have seen.

Andy Summers (x2 1980 & 2007)

Good catch, see what I mean about mind altering substances. I meant Dave Hill.

Not a list -- no time -- but I did get to hear, meet, and talk to Chet Atkins. Well, mostly he talked and I listened. For the most part it was about producing Elvis and Roger Whitaker. (sp?) It was at Christopher Parkening's house. A real evening to remember a looong time ago.

Also, Bonnie Raitt once asked me to go dancing, but that story isn't as interesting as it might seem.

I'm going to see Clapton in a couple weeks. Boy, I hope he brings Derek Trucks! Probably not in Denmark, though. Still, looking forward to that, allthough I'm not that big on huge venues. I like small intimate concerts better, even with lesser known players. There are a billion guys round the world that are killer on their guitars, so great is not that hard to come by, even locally!

I've been to some workshops with Mike Stern, though. And one with John Abercrombie. One of the best promotion shows I've seen lately was the Aussie Tommy Emmanuel, whoo hoo! I think he released an album with Chet Atkins some years ago.

I would really love to see Brad Paisley, Bill Frisell and Ry Cooder, though.

I guess that I got something of a private lesson from
Steve Morse.

Ran into him walking the floor of a NAMM show when I was 16, confessed my fandom, and he told me, "Come on and take a walk with me!"

Showed me a couple of little things once we got over the the Ernie Ball booth, and gave me some little bits of advice. One of the very nicest people that I have ever met. So generous with his time and just plain... NICE.

Never had the chance to see him play on-stage, but that little 5-minute private lesson was still pretty damn cool. And, more than 20 years later, I still cannot do a lot of the things that he showed me!

I originally read that one as:
ROY Wood.

Who is one that I really hope that I can see one day. Although, I don't know how much chance there is of that happening.
