Got here from Jai Josefs, nice place but sad to see there doesn't seem to be much activity for Columbus. Anyone want to prove me wrong, please feel free!!!
Anyway, I write music and songs featuring the electric harp (strings, not mouth harp). Trying to develop a new sound of dance music featuring the electric harp so I'm experimenting with a bunch of stuff. Would love to find someone who is very groove-proficient to collaborate with in this regard to combine some soaring, rhythmic harp with r&b grooves. I am a TAXI member and have had good feedback on my instrumental stuff in terms of underscores for TV.
Not necessarily from Columbus of course, that would just be more convenient.
Looking forward to networking with other musicians and songwriters!
Wenda

There's lots of musicians and writers all over the world to collaborate with. We don't have a Columbus chapter, but we do have members there (And everywhere else). You should post some stuff you've already done so folks can hear what you have in mind and what you do, or at least what you sound like by yourself. We have a famous Rock Harp player in the group who's been on PBS a bunch but her name is slipping my mind at the moment. I've come across a couple dozen harp players at our Roadtrip Showcases doing all styles and genres so it seems more common than many people think (i.e. playing harp in contemporary styles of music versus just classical or new age). I nearly had a Harp category one year in the awards because we got so many CD's featuring Harpists. Many have been nominated in the Solo Instrumental category over the years.
Good to have you join us! You must have been a member for a while if you're aware of my previous health issues. They've been nasty, but I am on the mend and looking forward to a fantastic 2013.

Hi Brian! I just joined, and had noticed somewhere you were having some health problems. Sucks. But glad to hear you are on the mend. This forum must take a lot of time for you. Thank you again.
You probably mean Deborah Henson-Conant. I met her years ago and I think she is mostly jazz. She has tried some "rock" stuff but it doesn't really work for me.
I posted a video on the Video section of "Clocks" just to show the sound of the harp. I wonder if people experience it as "New Age."
I also just want to meet musicians in Columbus since I just moved here.
Many thanks!

Hi Wendy, It sounds like you want someone that can re-write the Nutcracker Ballet. Just Kidding! May I suggest you visit some Music Stores, if there are any around and see if you can find some writer's you can work with. If there is a Symphony Orchastra in Columbus, home of the Buckeyes, you can probably strike paydirt. I assume there is still a Symphony in Cleveland so you may have to travel some. Good luck!
