www.us.movie.tintin.com/(official movie site) I was lucky enough to see the soon to be released movie, Tintin. It came out in Europe a month or so ago, and so far, it is a huge success there, opening to big box office dollars and critical acclaim. In any event, for those who do not know Tintin, he is a young reporter who solves all kinds of mysteries. It is an illustrated adventure series that I first began enjoying as a boy in Holland. In fact, upon moving back to Canada, Tintin was one of the things I immediately missed most, because a) I had not read all the adventures yet, and Herge (the author) was still alive then and writing more of them. As soon as the series came to Canada in the early 80s, I bought all the books, and I even have some versions still in Dutch. Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings) collaborated to bring us an absolutely ground breaking adventure in a cinematic style that you simply have to see. For Tintin purists like myself, it is a bit disappointing in that the film is really a "mash up" of two books (well three ...The Crab With The Golden Claws and a two parter, The Secret Of The Unicorn and Red Rackham's Treasure) and some original thinking, but that disappointment is short lived due to the excellent production value and the faithful characterization that brings it all to life . The result is a rip roaring adventure, fast paced, incredibly well rendered, and a joy to watch. You can bet that even though I've now seen it, I will definitely be in the theatre when it opens here December 21. I urge everyone who admires the work of Spielberg and Jackson to go see it. I urge every boy in the man to go see it with your sons. It is modern day animation at its absolute best.
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

Thanks for the write-up about this movie! Now I want to see it even more! I'm a bit of a Tintin purist myself. I'm especially interested because we read the Tintin comics in the original French in my college French classes (fun times ), so I'm interested to see how they've translated it to the screen.

My 4yr old grandson insists on watching it at least 2 times a day when he comes over to spend the night and the next day with "Pop." Incredibly realistic animation and a good adventure story.
