Hi Folks,

This board is getting zero posts. Is there anyone out there who would like to see it keep going, or should we delete it?

Let me know,

There will come a time when this forum will receive a tidal-wave of posts. It must - there are a heck of a lot of UK subscribers, aren't there? Why not alert everyone in the newsletter that international forums exist?

I had an idea: could it be possible that those from Canada, the UK, and Australia feel that they take a back seat to those from the US on these forums, as demonstrated by the after-thought appearance of locating these forums toward the end of the forum topics? Perhaps locating them at the beginning would help, since there are only three? Just a thought....

Ivan,

Actually we are considering nuking the slow US message boards as well. We have a lot of members in all these locations, but can't seem to motivate folks use them. I should probably put the lyric board at the bottom and that way folks would scroll down, but I am sure that would upset a lot of folks "up" there! hahahah

Hi Brian

I’m not sure how many UK JPF members there are, but in my six months here I’ve only met 4 or 5 of them on the boards. My main area of interest is collaborating with other songwriters and due to the wonders of the Internet it doesn’t really matter to me where they live. However there are occasions when I could use the services of a local musician or singer.

For me the main purpose of a UK message board would be for face to face meetings, live concert information, venues, session musicians/singers or maybe even a UK JPF showcase! I have thought about offering my services to get this thing off the ground but I really don’t feel that I can spare the time to do it justice.

Building on ivanjahn’s suggestion. It may be worth sending UK members a mailshot reminding them of the existence of this chapter and see if that kick starts anything.

Cheers

Hi Brian & everyone.

I'd love to see a UK JPF chapter get off the ground - it'd be great to get things like songwriter's circles, quality showcases and other songwriting-based events up and running, so yeah I'm basically up for the crack. I'd be willing to give the co-ordinating a go, although am a bit unsure as to what sort of stuff it involves.

All the best,
Will.

Will,

Great to hear from you. I think you are one of our longest term UK members. (And congrats on your Music Awards success this year.) To be honest, it won't take a great deal of time initially to be the UK coordinator. In fact, until we get a substantial following, it wouldn't take much more than posting here once or twice a week with any interesting info you come across and acting as the contact point (i.e. email contact) for our other UK members to start going to if they are interested in starting and participating in a chapter. That would mean simply keep track of a few email addresses and names of those who come to you with interest, and being available to answer/acknowledge those folks who show interest. If and when that number climbs to 10 or more, then we could have a meeting of those folks face to face to go to the next stage. If we get up to 20-30 interested folks, we could have a legitimate chapter (assuming they were within reasonable distance.) It may also be the starting point for more than one UK chapter in different regions. But in the end, it really is pretty simple. We just need a reliable person who will answer the small number of emails that will come in initially. If you and Ivan and a few others all show some interest, perhaps we can get enough momentum to justify a visit to the UK for a real Roadtrip. We've been wanting to bring over some US artists to Europe to mix in with our UK and Euro members.

Are you up to it?

Thanks,

Brian

Hi guys, I'm new to this, but as a UK based type, thought I would say hi and cross fingers that there are lots of UK based types out there. Like Nige said in hisresponse, the point of the internet is to overcome distance. But all the same a UK message board and chapter is a cool thing.

All the best,
meDinner

Hi Brian,
I was a member some time ago, but have just rejoined.
It seems a great site for contacts and collaboration possibilities.

Hi,

I think it could be useful to keep UK chapter going....I'm writing songs and I'm looking for good singers who live in Southampton or thereabouts...for recording days...I'll definitely be checking out this thread

Hi there

I'm in the UK (well, just about!) - having had a look about, I'd say a UK board is probably a good idea, if only because of the vast range this whole site covers! Can all get a bit confusing... [Linked Image]

Dear All,

What a brilliant idea just plain folks is. We do all need to stick together. We have a chance via initutives such as CD.baby and Just plain folks of distributing our work to the public without having to pay lip service to the large media and record companies. OK I am not a commercial composer so do not expect to sell many cds and classical music has never had a large return but with these opportunities I have a chance to distribute my music and work . Lets all stick together share and distribute information. After all we are all brother and sister musicians whatever the genre. Anyone who wants to know more about my work contact me via my website www.modranamusicpromotions.com I have not got a lot of time but I do have a lot of expertise and contacts within the industry and may be able to offer brief help and advice or at least point you in the right direction.

Hi Brian (and others).

I am a Saudi Arabian-based expat, a Canuck (Canadian) moving to Manchester, as you know, Brian, and I can tell you I am just thrilled to find these boards.

I am doing research there (when I get there) as to how it is UK artists promote their music, so perhaps it'll be illuminating with regard to why this forum isn't used more. Perhaps there are UK forums that address similar needs. I don't know.

At any rate, thank you for keeping this forum link open. All it takes is one connection to make it worthwhile, and I have contacted one individual and will certainly do the same with others.

In fact, maybe once I get settled, I can help spread the word about JPF for UK artists.

My interest and specialty is in international markets for N. American and European (English speaking, mainly) artists.

LL.

Hi,

I have to admit that I've been a member of JPF for more than a year now, but I didn't realise until today that there was a UK board. A real shame, because somebody above asks if there is a UK equivalent to the great support and network that JPF provides and I honestly can't think of one.

Hopefully we can start to use the board more,

Cheers - Ian

I only realised there was a UK forum after being a member for ten months.
I think some members like myself tend to stick with areas they are mainly interested in and become a little blinkered to what else is going on, I'm guilty of that!
I'm from Lancashire by the way, any one from M/ch or Lancs?
Travis
