Outstanding like always Brother Mike. You really put feeling into your playing which not everyone can do.

Both tunes are a pleasure to listen to...but as an old guy that used to play an Onyx Black Rodgers XP8 their is a Gretsch kit in the background that somehow catches my eye...

Great job Mike. Nice shots of all your studio gear too.

I took classical lessons from a friend a few years ago and the first song we worked on was Romanza. I did OK on much of it but I have trouble with barre chords on a classical neck as a result of a broken hand years ago....so I gave up frown

Yes yes the barre chords are murder, my hand hurts bad every day or other day, I cant imagine if it was once broken.

I try to rest it, BUT I'm so losing my mind stuck here all day & night doing nothing because of the vertigo and PAIN I HAVE to pick up the guitar. Really it's a nervous breakdown around the corner.

When it's really bad I put it in a brace/wrap and only us e my right hand to work on RH techniques and I'll also study the neck by eye and do some theory reading and watching guitar stuff..

Thanks
Mike

The thing about this piece is adding that F# in between each chord on the way down.
Guitarist Jack Marshall transcribed that and Chris Parkening his cousin made it seen and heard.
Then there's notes in between the A chord and the B chord alternating bass notes.

It was tricky but I got it finally so I do one verse the regular way and the other that way. The very ending climb was my idea never heard that before.

Thanks!

The few times I've watched video demos of barre chords the guy can palm a bowling ball....

Ah! smile

Well when I was about 16 I was cutting class hanging out at the train tracks by school with a friend or two. I had my acoustic out as always, and this girl I knew from school walked by with a guitar case. Pretty girl with blonde curly hair and big blue eyes.

I said hi and she said I like that song your playing "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd. I said "thanks whatcha got in that case"?
She took out a nylon string guitar, and began to tune it up.
She then started to play "Romance" I was mesmerized instantly by it. How can you love music and guitar and not me? First time I ever heard it...

I was like WOW that is awesome, could you teach me that?
She said sure, sure it will take some time though, come by my house after school and I'll show it to you, here's my address.

So later that day I went over to her house, we sat down on the couch talked a bit with our guitars in hand. She starts playing the first few seconds of the song then stops puts her guitar down
pushes mine aside and leans and plants a big wet kiss on me...

I'm like shocked, she finishes pulls back looks at me with those big blue eyes and I look straight back at her and say

"Are you gonna teach me that song now"
LOL

True story, I swear it, can you imagine this? Raging hormones and all NOTHING comes before my music, never has never will. All those guys who made music in high school would have jumped at this and all of them don't play anymore. I was always about the MUSIC even if I was in a rock band!!!

Thanks!
Peace Mike

Haha, Mike. I meant to ask you about the story but forgot while I was typing my comments. Thanks for the chuckle. I would have left the song for another day and then learned it...And I still play although nothing like you do.

She only knew the first section which there really is only two sections. But Nope I learned it then split basically. retrospect That's not me, not who I am. I was moved by the song and I didn't kiss people I didn't know well or had some feelings for.

Now I sit here can't do much at all and think boy what the hell was I thinking all those years smile

Thanks
Mike

That's a great story!

Of all the stories you've told about your life in music, none of them get across your dedication more than that one. smile

Yeah Mike....music is both a cruel and wonderful mistress.
But she is as loyal as a puppy dog...always willing to reward you
if you have the patience and time...I've been married to her now for fifty years and though she frustrates me at times she is ALWAYS there for me.

Beautiful, Mike. I LOVE house concerts, the kind where I can listen to and watch great music being made, while in my bathrobe! smile You can perform at my place anytime. Play on!

Love to see, (and hear) you playing Mike-it's good for the heart, low on calories, and the taste is great!
