Hey guys this is my cover of Hallelujah by Jeff Buckey. Please let me know your thoughts, especially about my singing and guitar playing. Thanks guys! Apologies about my awful mic, the sound quality isn't great! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoC7XTK0slU

Hey Jeff. First off, "Hallelujah" is actually by Leonard Cohen, but lots of people make the same mistake since Buckley's version is so definitive. Now, let's check out the tune: Really nice guitar playing. I like your tone a lot and your playing is more than competent. I would slow down the tempo a hair, though.
As to your voice: It's not bad, a bit thin and nasal, and you do get pitchy here and there. But, still better than a good chunk of the general population would do when trying to sing. Also, practice your breathing... that would probably help you a lot.
Not bad. And, of course, a wonderful choice of material. Welcome.

Jeff,
You play and sing quite well. The recording is painful to listen to - you should be able to improve your recording ability easily....but you knew that.

Thanks very much PopTodd! I'll get working on my breathing!
Hi Colin! By painful to listen to, do you mean that's because my mic is bad?
Thanks!

Love, love the guitar...and I too heard a loud roaring all during the recording, couldn't use my head phones....and actually I liked your voice ...it is the mic in my case....

More practice will help you more with your breathing and singing...I have trouble with my health issues with breathing and it's hard for me to sing...oh and my voice is another reason I don't sing....if not for the mic, I would have enjoyed this more...tks.....and that's an easy fix........

Jeff: If you want people to listen to your offerings you have to (must, gotta, it's mandatory, high priority, ...) improve the quality of your recordings. That big hum and distortion made me bail very, very quickly.
