Since we talked on the Beatle's trivia thread about The Beatles Abbey Road, check these out. One is vocals without music and the other is the musical backing tracks. It's a treat to listen to them. I just discovered these. Enjoy.

Thanks for sharing, Stevie:
Such creativity. For me, the Beatles were an acquired taste. I did not like them one iota when they first appeared on the music scene. The longer I listened, the more I enjoyed. These tracks provide some real insight into what made them tick. Enjoyed alot.

Note the 'percussive punch' and 'rhythm' of the vocals. An instrument could play those notes and the beat and melody would still be appreciable, individually.
It's fascinating what a lyrical mish-mash it is, and yet how wonderfully entertaining it was when we first heard it, and even now in this modified hearing.

George said he always felt his songs got short shrift from Lennon-McCartney, but then one night he sat down and listened to "Something" and realized Paul must have really gone home and worked on his bass line. Do you have that one with the bass line isolated? It would be fascinating to hear what George heard.

Paul has talked about how he started working out the bassline at home and overdubbed it in the studio once he started playing more melodic lines. I know he talked about that in The Making of Sargeant Pepper. He said he realized you didn't have to play just the root but could add notes that weren't part of the chord and he started experimenting. I don't have access to Something. I discovered these from another forum. Sorry. I'd love to hear it as well.

Hey Stevie,
Way Cool ! Like listening in the studio..... and a bit of spill for good measure..... just pulling faders up and down.
Great stuff in understanding the creative process.
Thanks mate !
cheers, niteshift
