I use internet explorer and I have gotten, don't know why, that stupid text enhance promp. I can try to click on something underlined, a link and it takes me to that instead..it also underline anyone's words they type and has links to that too....very aggravating. I see no text enhance on the systems running..I think it is disquised...quite well...anyone know the name of it so I can delete??
so far all the sites and info I have checked out do not tell a conclusive answer..anyone familiar with this and how to rid of it??
I have run malware and virus protection with Panda...it shows no virus'... Thanks.
Kim

In your browser...up top..go to Tools and Internet Options and Advanced tab and look in there for something to do with hyperlinks and see what is checked and not checked...should be under the Browsing paragraph

I didn't see anything with the words hyperlinks in the lists...there is a underline links, as it does that on links, but this is underlining words in my general stuff I read and then it looks like they are links, but they are not...aggravating....any other suggestion? and...Thank you so much! ;-) Kim

I know yahoo and bing love to do that, google probably too. If you have one of their extra toolbars (that they love to add on) you might want to disable them one at a time and see if that works.
I mostly use firefox (with no added toolbars), so I only have that trouble on yahoo or microsoft official sites

Hi-Yeah I have heard that some tool bars add all this extra stuff and mine is clean, I alway opt out of the extra toolbars as they slow things up for me.
Thanks for the advice though!! Much appreciated Doug!

This happened to me a few weeks ago, it's easy to fix. you downloaded, unwittingly, ( because you joined a site, or downloaded something ) an app that does this, it has nothing to do with windows and you can't stop it via IE menu. I forgot the name of the app, but you can uninstall it via control panel/ add remove programs, and I remember the title of the app pretty much gave it away that it was the culprit, something like, key word assistant, or marketing assistant, or something like that, maybe "assitant" wasn't part of it, I don't remember. But unless you uninstall the app, you can't stop it Pat Hardy Lockwood UPDATE: Found this: http://botcrawl.com/how-to-remove-text-enhance/And this: If you recently installed Google Chrome, uninstall "Savings Sidekick" app that it installed without telling you. ( Yeah, it righteously sucks ).

I have noticed recently that a lot of toolbars and some freebie programs now have little "extras" attached. These can be a pain and a hassle to get rid of. It is worth going through terms and conditions before installing a program and ensuring that you do not tick the box allowing these extra add-ons to be installed.

With Windows you can go to the RUN command from Start and run MSCONFIG. This is a menu driven program that will show you everything that is running on your computer, in the background or under Startup.
You can also see all of the processes that are running.
Of course if you don't know the name of the app that's causing the issue you would have to stop and start apps until you find the right one.

Kim,
A company who does that to entire message boards offered me a lot of money to become "sponsors" and do that to our boards. I declined for the very reasons you are dealing with. Thank goodness I knew it was all too good to be true. It was.
