FOUND THIS POSTING ON CRAIGSLIST - THOUGHT I WOULD PASS IT ALONG. LOOKS LIKE A NICE WAY TO COLLECT SOME FOOD AND GET FREE GUITAR STRING IN THE PROCESS. (Today and Tomorrow)
-------------------------------------------
Hey - I just got back from the free guitar strings event, and I'm surprised more people aren't taking advantage of this opportunity. Great deal, and for a good cause. They not only give you the free strings, but they string the guitar for you and they polish the guitar while they're at it. Press Release is below: Check your cupboards for those cans of stuff you're never going to eat, and go get some strings!

"Williamsville, NY - Musicians who are interested in helping the many
people in the local community affected by the recession can now lend
helping hand while getting new strings on their guitar. Generations Music
is teaming up with the Independent Music Store Owners Group and D'addario
strings for their first annual Food for Strings food drive. The event is
taking place the weekend before Thanksgiving from Friday, November 18th at
10a.m. through Sunday, November 20th at 5pm at both Generations Music
locations, Eastern Hills Mall and 2437 Military Rd. Niagara Falls 14304. Musicians need to bring
at least three non-perishable food items, and the experienced staff will
install a brand new set of D'addario strings, tune and polish the
instrument for no charge. All food collected will be donated to the Food
Bank of Western New York. Donations will be accepted even if the customer
is not interested in a restring.

To ensure each customer receives a quality restring, the store, which
normally staffs one guitar tech and one desk clerk, will double it's staff
for the day. A few regular customers volunteer to strip strings off the
guitars, polish and clean, while the guitar techs will restring and tune.

Musicians who donate food in exchange for the restring will be a part of a
nationwide effort to support food banks local to their store. The
Independent Music Store Owners Group has organized more than 30 stores to
participate in the 2011 drive. In the past two years, iMSO member stores
changed more then 2,500 sets of strings and collected more then 13,011
pounds of food. To find out which stores across the nation are
participating, or to learn more about the event, check out the website at

A noble endeavor if ever there was one.
