http://steverobinson.bandcamp.com/track/the-ride-of-our-livesA song about a transatlantic family friendship that began with my mother and her best friend in post-World war II England. Yes, it's a bit sappy, and I have my teenage daughter singing on it with me, but I make no apologies! Thanks for listening, Steve R.

Thank you Dottie. That's very kind. Yes, other than Nashville maestro Tim Lorsch on the viola, it's all me and my daughter who joins in on the choruses. She's actually my favourite part of it!

Steve,
Another great song from you. Vivid images. The reference to the Singer Gazelle reminds me of my Dad's Hillman Minx - I should write a reminiscing song.....
Are you going to be at the Hideaway for the Ditchflowers CD release?

Thanks Colin; much appreciated. By the way, you're probably one of the few people around who even knows what a Singer Gazelle is. And Hillman Minx? - there's a blast from the past. Can't wait to see you work that into a song! Ditchflowers release party? Possibly. Maybe if you buy me a nice Belgian ale...

I thoroughly enjoyed your song, Steve. It was mesmerizing. I love the acoustic stuff. I paid close attention to your lyrics, and love them. Saying just enough to make me imagine, then not saying too much to spoil my dream. Just perfect. I noticed the mandolin playing the melody over the top of the vocals. Hmm. Might sound better playing harmony instead. I don't know... but it might be cool to try.
Great tune!

Maybe if you buy me a nice Belgian ale... I will definitely buy you a Belgian ale if you come to the Hideaway. I am usually there on Tuesdays and Thursdays - sometimes running sound.

Your lyrics are commendable! They tell well the whole story with lots of rhyme to make it more magical. Loved them all especially "Well kiss and tell, pigtails and inkwells, daisy stems in jam jars turned to dates upon roller skates, and Friday nights at The Star". Your daughter's voice made for a nice addition also. Best, Lynn

Sweet song, Steve - Like the others of yours I'm familiar with, it has an epic poetic feel to it - without being an epic poem. It's a gem - congrats on your new release! Scott

"Saying just enough to make me imagine, then not saying too much to spoil my dream." I'll take that as a compliment any day of the week Kevin, thanks. Know where you're coming from with the mando, and it was considered, but when Tim delivered the viola part, he hit the harmony late in the song and I didn't want to step on that because I thought it was great.
Thanks for the comment Lynn. Glad you like that line. Apparently my mum and dad met at The Star pub in Maidstone, Kent so I had to throw a reference in there somehow!
Scott, thanks for the thumbs up; much appreciated, mate.
Colin, you're a busy man. How do you find time for sailing, and for restoring that Hillman Minx?

Hi Steve,
I listened to this the other day and didn’t have time to respond. I think this is a wonderful story and told very well. There’s a lot of images that bring the listener right to those times in their lives. The music adds a gentle, lulling feel to it…I really enjoyed this “ride!” Oh, and the carnival sounds and waves at the end are quite nice!

Thanks Kristi. Yeah, the calliope/carnival sound is an evocative one isn't it? Any excuse to use it! I just picked up a nice review yesterday. Thought I'd post it here: http://www.pennyblackmusic.co.uk/MagSitePages/Review.aspx?id=8121Thanks to all for listening. Steve R.
