Hey Jen,
This is really good. Your voice is beautiful on it. I like the mood it presents to go with the words. Great Job.

Love the instrumentation and the voice mixes with it perfectly. Very nice tune here. Hey, I wasn't even writing songs back in 2004! Good one.

Hi Jen, A very pretty piece of work. Your voice has a sweetness about it. one small nit.... I love the 1st chorus so much I think it should be the same throughout the song ! Nicely done. Calvin http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/calvinstewart

Kevin!! Thanks much... I'm glad you liked it! I am just so glad to finally have a way to start getting some music put together for some of these songs. Next, I'll have to pick up my guitar and start learning! R.Shayne-- Thanks for dropping by!! Glad you like it, much appreciated! Calvin-- So glad you like it, too!! I'll make it my objective to write the next one with a Chorus that doesn't change! --Jen

JEN--
A pleasant surprise--I really dig this one a lot--JMHO--I'd modulate the BR up than step down to the last CH--The BR would stand out more--
Keep writing and singing--
Good Luck GIRL!--

Hi Jen
Sounds good and Sounds like you are on a fast track of learning digital recording. What program are you using ? I think you have good ears for this. jm

Dave-- Thanks much! Appreciate you dropping in! And glad you like it! Mackie-- Hey, there! So glad it was pleasant for you... may have to give that a try on the Bridge! Thanks a bunch! Joice-- Hi, and thanks for taking a listen! I would certainly prefer to use live instrumentation, but even if I could get my brothers here to record everything and everytime, we don't have all the instruments I've used here... especially the drums. These sound more like what I imagine you play from your picture?! We now have that Yamaha digital drum kit, but I'm not sure it would sound as nice as what I found to put in this one. I am learning a lot, but have a long way to go, too! I use ProTools, but have also mix and matched some sounds from Magic Music Maker, and in other projects I have used JamStudio, and have started mixing pieces from all of these. It does take a bit of an ear to piece it all together as I imagine it... so thank you very, very much. That is a very nice compliment! --Jen

Hi Jen: I find it amazing that you can put something together that nice without live instruments. It sounded very nice to my ears. It's a nicely written pop tune. Only nit from me is that this line was a bit rushed: This world is getting small, Heaven calls to me Oh yeah, your voice sounded really nice on this. Good work Scott

hi jen, beautiful melody and very fine arrangement. Just a suggestion to make it really fly - consider adding a second vocal (upper range) on the chorus, to make it shine.

Jen, this was a lovely thing to listen to this morning. I really liked the hook with the melody line - memorable and great lines in here. Keep up the great work!

Jen, I agree with MaxG. A high harmony would send the chorus flying. Good piece of work here with a nice sound. Vic

A really good song, lyrically and musically too.Your vocals are excellent and I agree with a couple of other comments that a high harmony would really lift the chorus. Best of luck with it Regards Travis

Cool track Jen! Singing and instrumentation work well. Kind of exotic. Like it a lot! Not sure about the very end with the percussion ending alone. Maybe if the percussion was a little longer at the end (maybe fading) or a final chord. Best, John

Hey, everyone!! Thanks so much for the wonderful and encouraging comments!! VERY appreciated! Scott-- you are absolutely right about that Heaven line, maybe I need to try "This world's too small, Heaven's calling me" or something like that!! Thanks so much for that observation, very helpful! Linda-- I just love those graphics.. very cool! Thank you! Max & Vic-- Hi, gents! Yes, I think you are right about the higher harmony.. will work on that! Travis-- Thanks for stopping by... I am so glad you like it, every vote of confidence helps! John-- Thanks for your time and comments, so glad you like it! I haven't figured out how to do any kind of fading yet, so had to do something at the end that didn't just sound completely cut off. I personally loved that percussion by itself ending it, but I agree that it may need to be a tad longer, and I did wonder about that, so thank you. That just firmed up one of my thoughts! --Jen

Hi Jen, I can’t even begin to tell you how beautiful I think this is!! I LOVE it! One thing though, when I got to the bridge it’s a little confusing. I wonder what the more to lean on is? But the biggest thing is; this job is done, it sounds like you’re about to die. I don’t believe that’s what you intended, so I’m not sure what you’re talking about. I’m sure you can clear this up by just changing a few words. Edit; Looking at it again maybe that is what you meant, I sure hope not it's too pretty of a song to take it there...Of course it's just my opinion. Again it’s a great song, and you sing it beautifully!! Dottie

Jen...
This is fabulous! Love the percussions! Your vocal lilts so warmly over the music...this is a super listen.
Can't think of a thing to add or change...'cept the suggestion for the high harmony. Great job!!!

Hi, Everybody!! Thank you all for the wonderful comments! That touches my heart! Yes, I think if Linda is up to it, she is going to work on a higher harmony part, I too feel that would be a nice touch! Glad you all enjoyed it!! **Dottie-- a special thank you... and yes, it is about dying in the end, but it isn't supposed to be a sad thing, this is a person who is now fulfilled, and simply knows it's time to go, as we all must do someday, but to be confident and ready would be ideal! Thanks again!

Hi Jen, Okay it makes perfect sense now… I do understand what you mean, my grandfather (the most spiritual man I've ever known) felt this way. He was anxious and excited about crossing over. He spent his entire life getting ready. Wow I miss him. Dottie

I liked the tune and it's melody. I found the mix pedestrian but I am hard on myself being a musician. The digital mix lacks the signature lick, run or turnaround that separates digital from live. I would expand my system to include solo's and rhythm changes if you are able. I suppose you could collab w/ a guitarist and or a keyboardist and introduce those things to an otherwise "buildable" cut. This would not be hard to do. I am so close to totally upgrading my entire system myself but I need to upgrade the computer and choose a super program. I have no idea which way I'll go. I've played live for quite a few years so I am partial to live but it is such a hassle. Pretty voice and very well written song. I certainly hope to hear more from you as well.
