I was watching a show on TV the other night and thought Mike may be interested:
http://www.pbs.org/kcet/wiredscience/video/286-mixed_feelings.html
The part relating to Mike comes in a little past halfway.
This program aired originally in 2007 and I was wondering where the technology is now.

Here's what one person had to say:
RAVE! Two nights ago I was watching PBS and I saw/heard the narrator describe the answer to what happened to me! The "Wired Science" program was about electrode treatments that were being experimentally used for people with damage to the vestibular nervous system, including on patients that were blind.
Then they interviewed a woman shown riding a bike, who had permanent irreversible damage to her vestibular nerve which caused her to have almost constant vertigo attacks! Her damage was caused by a prescribed antibiotic for an unrelated illness. She was lucky enough to have had her doctor referral to this trial program for vestibular nerve damage treatment with electrodes placed on the tongue ... and her vertigo stopped. In time with repeated electrode treatments it (the nerve) even repaired itself partially. The doctors involved in the program said it appears the brain was "rewiring itself" thanks to the electrical stimulation with the device on her tongue.
My point is ... except for the fact that I was had vertigo attacks caused somehow by taking Celebrex, that woman was just like me. The only difference is I was lucky enough to have been told to stop taking Celebrex before the damage became permanent.

This program unraveled the mystery of WHAT Celebrex had done to cause my vertigo attacks - info my doctor, the FDA, the drug industry, and even my pharmacy failed to know or at least to divulge!

Best of luck Mike!

Wow, I just saw this thread and thought, I finally got my HIT and nobody told me about it smile

But was even more touched that someone like you was thinking on my behalf, "thinking about me" and how to help me. I have relatives who don't give it a second thought and doctors who don't give it a FIRST thought.

For this I can't thank you enough, as you have no idea how much I appreciate this Mike.

I'll check out the link.... and be back!

Thank You sooooooo much.

Mike

Thanks!
Peace Mike

Celebrex? Are ya sure? Can I call my Barrister, Lawyer, Ambulance Chaser? Should I pass out in front of plenty of witnesses? I took the big C for several years. No wonder I'm dizzy all the time... well, maybe not quite as bad as Mike Caro has it... but it still comes and goes.

Dang! I shoulda known it was a dirty communist plot! (LOL!)

Hope you're continuing to improve, Mike C. It is truly a maddening malady. Here's hoping that Mike's post provides another clue for you.

Best,

Dave

Hey Lynn and Polly!
Like you, I just wish this man could find some answers.

Mike:
Glad you didn't think I was interfering. I hope someday your present difficulties will be a distant memory.
No need for thanks, you finding relief would be a gift.

Hey Dave!
I know everyone's behind Mike, maybe this is the year he can get healthy. Thanks for dropping in!

Wow that was a remarkable presentation. It's incredible what we can do when the focus and passion is pointed in a direction.
That is wonderful and very very promising for so many things, and so many people.

My BIGGEST problems are:

1- No Diagnosis, Nobody can tell me WHY in 14 years.
This is almost as frustrating as the problem itself.

2- Is my vestibular/balance problems connected to my weakness?
Weakness as in "Core Weakness" Can not support my own weight long. I believe it is, but...... who cares what I say or think.
I'm shushed in the doctors office when I quietly, gently and briefly try to explain things.

3- Are both associated with the fact that my neck and entire back are extremely stiff/tight/burning and in pain EVERY single day & night?

The weakness continues to get worse as does the rest. What used to help is helping less as time goes on & on.
The last Neurologist I saw Neurologist # 11 said he was not sure what my problem was "naturally" but thought it to be rare. He said a "neurological disease" of my brain/spine could be the cause. And that was not a good thing.

I asked if "injury/trauma could have brought it on?
He didn't think so, but once i said the word, sorry snuck in the word "JACKHAMMER" he said "jackhammer"? Hmmmm!

The reason I can not take all this doctors says to heart and mind is while he was at least caring and thorough. He would not listen. I ALWAYS give them space and room to think and do NOT bring my 14 years of frustration and disgust with me.
Just my one page PERFECT report sheet i designed, and my records and films. Or do I knock the other 56 doctors I have seen.

Here's why I have to watch and be careful

1. Maybe the doctor is BRILLIANT, but he still looked at his cell phone during the visit and said. "Hmmm who's this? who
s this 800 number"? Debating whether to answer it or not.
I quietly said. "It's a telemarketer doc" He answered anyway and guess what?

2. I don't mind being asked to or signaled to not speak but I know you didn't read my one page report. So I'm trying to give you clues... WHY? Because while your thinking about me for the first time EVER and answering cell phones, and the nurses and whatever else the other 40 patients before and waiting. THIS PROBLEM besides "Music" is ALL I think about.
Listen to me.... I know me & I'm a LOT more clever than I look and my level of education.

3. You asked me what a LONGSHOREMAN was? So you'll NEVER grasp the concept of "The Job" or the tires. I swear I have to bring the things I did at work into the doctors office with me. Including the 300 pound tires, 50lb Lug Gun, the 100lb Jackhammer
the sledge hammer, the welding machine and mask, and maybe the truck containers that i used to climb in to weld, the ones that stickers peeled off them that read POISON!
Huh? What? maybe no? Duh!

Then I'll leave him 8 hours with those things to deal with. But before I leave your office SHUT the heat off and open all the windows. Cause it's 20 below zero where I worked biotch! lol
Now do you think we should talk a little bit about what I did for 17 years?

4. The last doctor who saw me is the one who's report you WANT.
That guy didn't give me your number I asked for it by bringing up Cervical Vertigo. The guy did nothing and suggested nothing to me and John Daubert. He even ROLLED HIS EYES while i tried to tell him something.
But the doctor before spent 2 1/2 HOURS with me, and you said I don't know him. and don't want his report.

Several times today you made me question your JUDGMENT your common sense. You said things like "It must be rare if all those smart doctors couldn't give an answer" Really? Are you kidding.
Then he said HOW in the world could no one tell you anything, then at the end he says. "I don't know what to tell you"
Then you even questioned if i was exaggerating the problem for some reason... Holy crap!

I go back for ANOTHER EMG I did one two tears ago. Everything is a month or so apart so time just keeps wearing on me.

In the film seeing that lady run into the mall and jump off the escalator filled my heart with joy and emotion. Her VERTIGO is much worse than mine. AS I tip and fall but do not spin constantly. But I have the neck the back and the weakness..
The list of I can't do grows, standing up, and sitting up are the most frustrating then walking. Scary! as the tipping over is.

Separate Problems or NOT help with ONE please....
I'm WAY beyond what I thought I could take until the next level.
I miss my life smile

Thanks Mike
And God Bless

God damn it! I can feel your frustration right off the screen.

I don't know how you do it. The sad part is dealing with this AS part of your life. I truly hope someone can have the insight, ability and compassion to help you.
I'll pray every night.

P.S. Big ups to John Daubert; he sets the standard for the word "friend".

Yeah there's nothing like explaining something to somebody for 14 years and doing it like it's the first time ever over & over. Like a Twilight Zone Episode. Then watching them roll there eyes, or make light of it right in front of your face.

You talk with some people when making appointments even and they just don't get it, I just say VERY SWEETLY.. Always nicely even when there nasty...
"How old are you?
Answer - Twenty

Okay you were six years old when I started explaining this in a doctors office the first time. Now you went through grammer school, high School and two years of college, oh and I see your engaged congratulations! smile

If I can be nice and calm about it, can't you?

Get it now?

Yes John is a blessing and he shares my frustration. He could NOT believe how things went in some of our doctor visits.

It bothers me deeply that I'm becoming a cripple of sorts
and it bothers me even more deeply that no matter what I do or say or feel, or try there's nothing I can do about it.
It reminds of my musical life, "just out of my hands"

Thanks so much again

Sincerely
Mike

Thanks!

I am not totally up on your condition Mike and do not need you to repeat yourself BUT keep on trying to find the answers. Keep asking until you do. The world wide web may just be the answer. Someone, somewhere will get wind of this and point you in the right direction.

Take care.

Mike, I don't know you but from here, but I think about you EVERY DAY! I don't know how you stand it, I don't know how you endure it, but to me, you're one of the strongest people I ever met, and my heart just goes out to you! Hold on, hang on, maybe this doctor will be THE ONE who can figure it out! God love you Sweetheart...we here sure do!

Well, I can't help with the medical side, but I have become a satisfied customer. It wasn't charity, either. The man turned in an EXCELLENT bass line that just totally grooved up my track. Turns out Mike actually knows how to play that thang. All I had to do was boost the click track up to 60 dB and he found the beat immediately! smile

Yes, I'm joking....it was only 40 dB.

Well, I have my own song that he did the demo on, and I listen to it every day on my hour trip to work and back, along with some of my others, but it's always #1 on all my cd's I burn...love it, man is he good...

yes, i'm STILL talking about Man, How These Walls Cry I like to bump it every so often so the new members can hear this great production.....love it...written with Derek Hines and Caroline Holder...glyn

Mike is great....I hope and pray everyday that he will be relieved from these problems and be able to play and enjoy the music he was meant to play so well

blush Thank you Polly that is very sweet. This doctor is #57 so I'm losing faith in them as well as respect for some of them.
And what really adds to the wiped out factor is booking an appointment and having to wait a month to four months for the next one. You keep telling yourself okay you can do another six weeks, then you get there and NOTHING! Zero!

Constant pain, stiffness and weakness and disequilibrium problems.
Tipping over and being dizzy with the vertigo is the worst, then the ever growing weakness is in second place, just not being able to hold your weight up, that ones pretty scary, makes me just as nervous. Moving into tie for 1st on the suck list.
Pain & stiffness, burning day & night sucks but EVERYBODY pretty much deals with that. I get the needles in the back next appointment the ENG I think it's called. My second one.

This will be my last Neurologist 11 or 12 already I've had it with them, making me touch my fingers together and waving the finger etc.... And making me feel like a burden to them.
I should bring my bass and smack the hell out of it and say "okay see" enough with this same routine lol

Orthopedics 2 - ENT's 10 Rheumatologists 1 Neurologists 11
Chiropractors - 4 Balance Doctors -2 Physical Therapists -3

I'm tired!

Hi Glynda

Your another sweetheart, Whoa,I spun just now as I started writing here, had to grab the table. Nice!
Gonna go hit the recliner and D out. Man it was great working on that song, it just pumps and pumps. And I was so thrilled that the boys & girls over seas enjoyed it so much. But also that you do and for all this time, and forever. That is special and what it's all about.

Love you Mike I just wish I could somehow take all that away from you....I would in a heartbeat....somethings I don't understand...why must some of the best people in the world suffer from things, and in your condition, you can't even fight it back, cause you can't find out what it is.....

Sir, if I had one miracle in my life, it would be there with you,I know my heart is..........................Always....glyn

I did not want to bump this thread but since Mike Healy put my name on it already smile

I am beyond sick of my problem and myself at this point, actually I was a few years ago already. Nevermind 14 years.
I don't even want to talk about it anymore... It's just I know I have friends here who genuinely care about me and have my best interests at heart and in mind.
I get a PMs or an email from some of you, so this kinda lets a few of my friends here all at once know what's happening.

John Daubert comes tomorrow to take me back out his way to Trenton NJ, We are going to see Doctor #58 now.
I just want to say that I have blood relatives many who don't even have a clue as to what I'm up to. Yet my friend who I met HERE helps me time after time.

Really man, who spends there days or any amount of time concerned about YOU? Thinking about how they can help you!
Like Moms do! So the appreciation is deep from my end.

My last doctor #57, Nice man!!! told me that he believes I have a Neurological degenerative disease of some kind. No name yet, no answer, but he gave me a referral to another doctor. A Neuro Muscular Specialist...

You know me, and how I word things, so I say to the last doctor.
"You mean, all that lifting and bending with those 300 lb tires, and the jackhammering for all those years in all weather including below zero... did not cause or contribute to this problem?"

The doctor says - "No! I'd say a 3% chance out of 100"

I says - "Okay then so if I were like the Pharaoh of Egypt, and was the prince of Egypt all my life before that, and girls were bathing me, and rubbing me down with oils, and fanning me with feathers and hand feeding me grapes all day everyday, I'd STILL have this problem?"

Doctors says - "Okay Maybe a 4% chance" smile LOL

I had to DRILL the point, besides I could not believe it.
I shouldn't be joking and all and It's scary losing the ability to stand on my own and walk, as is the case now but I know there are countless people worse off, and I feel for them. Every night I pray for others and only for strength and courage for myself to deal, and my prayers have been answered everyday.

Lets see what #58 has to say tomorrow, and thank God for John.
And my many friends here.

All the best
Mike

Thanks!
Peace Mike

HIDee Bro Sub!

As I gotta deal More & More with The Medicos, I DO Thank The Deity that I've had my share of Better Luck.

As one who's operated a Jackhammer..in Combat Engineer School..I DO understand what May-WELL have contributed to your current problems. The Vibrations & Potential Shock to all sorts of muscular-skeletal regions DEFINITELY need "More Looking-Into".

Might wanna fire off a Letter to OSHA seeing if THEY have any Studies...concluded...or in-process...regarding Occupational Hazards from Jackhammers...which you might wanna present to that Next Doctor...perhaps.

You're in my prayers, man.

Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug,
Stan

Thanks Duke,Kim,Tom & Stan

That's what I thought Stan, I had to knock something loose.
But Doctor #58 Dr. G who does not deserve really to be called by a number, didn't think so. He was a VERY kind and caring man, he LISTENED to both me & John. He asked personal questions and made you feel like a human being and not a muffler at Midas.

To save him the trouble of lots of little tests, I leaned back on the reclining table put my hands to the side, and ripped into some drum rudiments/fills/solo lol
He was like whoa! then I smiled and said I can do that to a metronome as well... He said so you can play the drums, I said only when I can sit up, without tipping over, falling off the chair or in too much pain & stiffness & weakness.

The doc says how many instruments do you play and what kind of music do you write & play?
John "The Colonel Troutman" Daubert interjects and says, Oh that's not all he can do, don't even get me started lol.

For those who do not know, I have coined the phrase "Colonel Troutman" when referring to ANYBODY who promotes or talks you up, sells you.
He was the Colonel, from the Rambo movies played by actor Richard Crenna, All he did period, was pump up Rambo hype him up smile So by the time 5'5 Rambo showed up you were in ore and scared to death already smile

Sorry to say that Dr. G had NO diagnosis or answers for me. Not even another Doc he could think of too send me too.
He too felt a Neurological Degenerative Disease was at work, killing off my brain cells that cause these results to my body. Just like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, MS, and those terrible things do. Doctor G is a specialist in Lou Gerhig's Disease so naturally he was able to rule that out. I LOVE Lou but was very happy to not to have anything to do with that kinda problem.

Looks like I'm going to be off to Bloomsburg Penn to follow up on the vestibular aspect of this, the balance trouble. Poor John who drags me all over the place... God Bless him & the nice man who cared about me yesterday. When I came home I found my Mom crying, my brother was rushed to the hospital for Congestive heart failure and kidney failure.

Boy where is the "good old days"?

Two last things
1.Try to make every healthy day a happy day, and never mind the nonsense that may surround you. Let it be part of tomorrows "Good Old Days"

2. John Daubert is awesome..

Thanks!
Peace Mike

Mike,

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE the next time any doctor "shusshes" you while you are explaining your condition, PLEASE get up and walk out, let their scheduling people know you'll be contacting them from a new doctor and never go back.

Real doctors LISTEN first to their patients before deciding anything to do. If they don't, they do not have the info needed to help you.

That sort of thing really pisses me off.

Thanks again you guys, and I will do that Brian, or John will drag me out smile

Just an update:

Wanted to thank John here as well as in person like I did yesterday. When he drove me ALL the way to Bloomsburg University In PA to see a doctor. My 60th doctor. Also thanks to Iggy for meeting us there and hanging out for my five or six hours of testing and consultation.

We drove for four hours to get there. The doctor was a young guy nice as could be and caring. Full of energy and knowledge, had a a staff of students with him that were helpful and caring, they sat me at a table and listened. I had them laughing in two minutes smile Sick as I am lol with this 15 year sob story of frustration and aggravation from the problem itself and at the hands of others. (Doctors etc..) They were ALL nice people.
They got a big charge out of my enthusiasm spirit, sense of humor and my New York accent. Just the way i spoke and the way i put stuff across. The doctor also built guitars and played and had a massive collection of great amps. So we hit it right off.

The last time I saw a balance specialist back in December they put me in the device called the Rotational Chair. I made it through the non rotating tests but the minute it was put in motion, I threw off the goggles avoided passing out, whined like a child smile and quit. So I never completed the test.
I promised myself I would NEVER EVER take that test again, or put myself in that chair.

So what do they do yesterday first thing ? They tell me you need to go in that chair. The chair is in a black booth, you are strapped in at the head neck, chest waist, legs and feet. You hold on to hand controls that you need to use in some tests. You have goggles over your eyes, headphones on your head. Then you are shut in to complete darkness. Cool so far right? smile
Then you stare at a red light, a dot. Then it moves and you follow it. This alone makes you dizzy or spinny. Then you draw some vertical & horizontal lines with your controls. That's okay like a video game, but still....

Then they put that chair in motion!!! That's it, lights out amigo. I get tippsy and dizzy when I'm sitting in the studio and someone just puts there hand on the back of my chair!!!
This is where I bailed out last time and was planning to bail out again.
I was never good on rides, roller coasters or anything. If you didn't have a vestibular/vertigo problem this chair would assault your senses and well being. It was MURDER for me.

They kept me talking as I was hanging on being twisted and spun around. One test was called the "Thrusts" a series of me getting spun and stopped to a fast hault. All the time having to keep my eyes open on a little red light.
I wanted to BAIL, but I kept thinking. I WANT more than anything to get better, I would rather they stabbed me and beat me up then do this, but I have to hold on long as I can. The only way they may know anything is by doing this damn test. Also we came SO far to give up now. And lastly I didn't want to whus out in front of the doc and the students, especially girls lol.

So I stayed in there for I dont know how long, geez two hours perhaps. I was talking clearly to them when i started but near the end, I was mumbling. Couldn't get a whole word out. They wore me out totally, useless!
Right after that it was time to stick tubes in my ears fill them with hot water still I started spinning out of control round and round....

I waited for a little bit with John & Iggy for the results. John still can't believe I let them put me in that chair...
They said, I may have neck & back problem a neurological disease that is associated or contributing to my problem. They dont know for sure. But they are almost certain, positive that I do have an inner ear problem. They said the tests show that my vertical perception is not one of a normal, average persons perception. I live on a tilt.. I believe they said to the left.

And that this - The Ultricle Organ part of my inner ear was the cause. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utricle_%28ear%29

Three solutions
1- Drugs like Meclazine which he agreed don't work, I've tried.
2- A surgery removing the thing, a whole in head which would leave me deaf in that ear.
3- Vestibular Therapy, Which i have done in the past but failed to work. Only this would be a different method of it, applying to my problem. He's developing it now as it's NEVER been designed really before. This guy is at the frontier of this kind of problem, that's why guys nearly twice his age sent me to him.

So lets see what he comes up with for me to try. I woke up today and had such a vertigo attack I could not get out of the bed, I fell back every time I tried. This has NEVER happened before in my life. I have had the tips, a quick spin, weakness, pain and stiffness, the sinking into the ground sensation, and have fallen, but NEVER was in can't stop spinning mode the TRUE vertigo that I was always thankful for NOT having. The kind you can NOT live with, the kind that has to go away soon....

It took me nearly an hour to get out of bed, tricking myself to get up and move slowly with eyes completely closed. I crawled to the phone and called the doctor. I said Doc I got new troubles...
He said it was uncommon what i was experiencing for the next day. That I may have dislarged some crystals in my ear, no no YOU dislarged some crystals lol.
I said we roughed up my vestibular system pretty bad and maybe this is a result. He agreed and said count how long the attacks last and let me know.

While I have calmed down greatly and tapered off, enough to let me write this thread, I DREAD waking up tomorrow. If it happens again I will crawl back and blow that chair off the map..... smile

Thanks Johnny Daubert you are a friend beyond the meaning of the word....

Thanks!
Peace Mike

Well it's first doctor in 15 years to tell me ANYTHING!! they even said besides the brutal beating my old job gave my neck & back part of that problem could be caused by the CONSTANT tenseness going on, but the fact that Am always fighting to prevent falling etc.. and compensating for my balance puts a great strain on me.

Hopefully I may just have to get worst to get better, and this is the beginning of that. I know so many others have it so much worse and my prayers and hopes are always to those who are.

Thanks!

Thanks Kevin

This is really a wonderful site even when we bicker it makes it even more like family. Because OF HERE I was taken all the way to that University. I met John here... Okay I have blood relatives that don't even know I went or was going.

Finding a solution to this medical problem is the only thing besides two other things that I have REALLY tried to accomplish in my entire life. The other of course is music success and happiness and like this medical problem that has been an impossible task. The other the third, I totally accomplished.

I know how people feel or can feel about there music, I love to help with that feeling. And I'm selfish, in that it means alot to me to do that, it makes me feel right. I help you in return you help me. Lots around here are like that.

Like I told my friend here Scott Cambell, I would totally GIVE UP and quit, If I only knew how.
Really is there a manual somewhere I could read or take a course on it? smile

Thanks
Mike

Hi Folks! To add my personal perspective on Mike and his condition, please consider this:

I've worked in -7 degree weather while sitting on an open snow removal tractor for 12 hours off and on, having to go into a heated truck so not to die. I've watched shows about Navy Seals, which of course is WAY tougher and demanding than if I had spent a month on that tractor.

Mike, with his already messed up balance issue, and knowing how "That Chair" had him feel after just three seconds of spinning in a blacked out room, (ever had a full blown panic attack?), related to the toughness and courage in the face of extreme fear and nasty spinning sensations that I saw Seals go through. Most QUIT, like Mike fought against doing that second time on "That Chair"!

It was hours he was down on that second floor. They had about four student girls trying to comfort him with voice and a hand patting or hold, so he could get through maybe one of those spinning and jolting tests. Mike went through about 13 of them! Hours! I can not imagine me going though more than minute on "That Chair" with my past history of some light-headedness and cured panic attacks. Even with being cured of those attacks, I would NOT go in "that Chair" knowing how it would feel.

I looked at Mike afterward,,(about 3 and half hours after last seeing him), and thought I was looking at someone who came from just a long dance. He was smiling. Weak and confused, But smiling still. ??? HOW can anyone with his condition go through "That", and still come out smiling?

He promised himself and me that he would NEVER go in "That Chair" again. But he HAD to and DID. Amazing to knowingly put himself in such torturous event. Imagine having a panic attack while being buried alive, and also having that coffin spinning. Yeah,,,,like that. He sat down knowing what he would go through. (About 3 hours worth of being tortured). I've seen that same determination though in his music time, especially with others music.

The doctor and girls were happy that he lasted SO LONG, so as they could try to help him by coming up with a diagnosis. They were as if they knew Mike all his life and really wanted to help him if no one else ever! Amazing people. University doctors and their students have TIME to spend with hurting people. They are not in some office with you for a half hour and then say,,,,,OK,,,sorry,,,,NEXT!

I've seen my mom suffer with Vertigo. My wife had it for a couple of weeks. Wow,,,has to be one of the worse feelings a human can experience. They were destroyed in every mental sense of the word. So, to have that condition on top of his already nasty 15 year on going one has to have Mike feeling extremely bad, mad, etc. So, what does he do? He continues to care about others here. Who would go through all that he and I explained? (And it's worse OF COURSE than just knowing about it). Who would come out smiling when having no strength from being mentally tortured for hours when having a condition that would have most run away from "That Chair" in the first place from already being in one before? Then after that, who would think of others and really feel sorrow for THEM? I've seen his sincere ways that are 100% real and constant. I am humbled by his caring, love, courage and passion for people and music. It seems that finally he found a doctor that may be of the same character.

Hope so.

Mike Caro is a JPF treasure. For those that get his help in anyway here, know that you were being helped by someone that puts every ounce of effort and love an caring in YOUR music for YOU. It makes him feel good too of course, so as long as he can do music for others, please do take the time to talk with Mike about your music and actions concerning music. You would have a very special person helping you!

Lucky JPF for having Mike Caro.

Get WELL, Mike! Hope that Vertigo goes away, but is a good clue for Dr. Gonzales and his staff to build their diagnostic case on.

Hey Sub,

Having listened to your ongoing problem, can I ask a really dumb question ?

When my wife was pregnant, she used to wander around banging into door frames. All the wobbles, the whole bit. It was LOW blood pressure, which is uncommon in pregnancy ( it's usually high ) Has anyone tested your resting blood pressure, and then your blood pressure when you stand up. It should increase. If it doesn't, you then have a real problem.

It's probably been tested, but just a thought.

Secondly, Greg, the yellow Wiggle has a problem very similar to yourself. He had to leave a multi million dollar outfit, and they replaced him because he couldn't perform on stage. ( He's still in the band, just replaced with a proxy )

But..... apparantly he is now fit to return after a 3 or 4 year break. Is he cured ? It may be worth persuing, to see if it's music related, and where he had his treatment.

Just some thoughts. They probably don't help much, but we're all thinking of you. smile

cheers, niteshift

It's really just a community of real people taking care of each other. In times like we have now in many countries around the world, especially brewing here in the USA right now, we're going to have to count on our neighbors and friends, real and virtually through the net, to get by. I think we're all sadly in for the toughest next 10 years perhaps in world history unless massive changes occur for the better. Looking at the state of politics and outbreaks of violence around the world, it is hard to be optimistic. The only way to survive is take care of each other in any way we can.

Yes! Before the Web, there was not the networking help of many ways that JPF allows. Music and personal wise. Brian, you alone started your quest, which now has turned into a stunning amount of people that can at any time reach out and get assistance in any way, for them, and for their families and friends. Thanks for supporting such a great worldwide site to have us all meet online and in person, to help or be helped. Hope your needs are also being helped with in many ways.

You have helped Mike, (and many others "directly" from the beginning), since those that helped him and others would not have even know about them if not for you starting JPF!

Hi Mike

Wow, your very popular> Thought I'd just check in to see how my special Mate is going hey. grin

Mike I also want to thank you for helping me with your lovely words, when I was on a downer. Sometimes it amazes me, how quickly things in your life can turn from up to down, but then back up. laugh

I got some news to tell you, I got an email this week, from a student who is doing a film here in Australia, Sydney, called "Bullying Walter Lardias", and he wanted me to come and audition for the Supporting Role, Mrs Lardias, so I did that on Saturday night. I don't know how I went, but I will no by Wednesday if I get the role, so cross your fingers for me hah. It's not a big paying job, but I don't care about the money, the story of the film I connected to it straight away. smile

I will come back and let you know as soon as I know. And guess what, he loved "Don't push my Button" and told me that I gotta get that song released, he told me it was stuck in his head. laugh I told him I felt I was to old now, and was hoping someone else will pick up the song. He told me that I wasn't to old, I thought that was very nice of him.

Big hugs Mike, and your always in my prayers, smile Lv Michele

Thanks all you guys & gals. This place as done so much for my state of mind really! Sometimes your up all night I mean all night smile and you can just reach out and talk with someone about anything.

We are so much more than our music & songs.

No word yet on the newly being developed for the first time in history Vestibular Therapy for me to try. I'm one who has to smile and shake my head with that, I just can't imagine there's no manual. And I'm the first person alive past & present to press the issue to the point of making one up.
Others MUST absolutely have what I have whatever it may actually be. They must have just accepted it and let nature take it's course.
In other words "What-ever"! smile

On the musical side of things I'm sneaking ever so closely to finishing my album. Three songs left to complete, One needs Vocals & Mixdown. The other needs Trumpet and lots of it, and electric guitar. The thirds one needs trumpet as well. Then mixes and mastering touch up. Almost three years in the making.
It's taken so long that I've actually had time to improve so much at certain things I was able to do most of it myself, without outside help. smile

If I don't get a call back from a horn player locally it looks like I'm gonna have to go through Session Players website. Probably the fastest way I'll get it done. Staring at $250.00 per instrument and up, these horn parts should be quite the blow. LOL

There are so many ways I haven't changed since childhood, putting everything I have into my music is at the top of that list. Hey should have learned to play horn in those three years as well smile

Thanks again
Mike

Lord, help our brother Mike with his health. We all wanna believe this is the doc who you've brought in to help him...and while you're at it, since it's so much easier for you than it is for us, would you send my brother Mike a smokin' trumpet player to lay down a few cool tracks for like maybe $100 or less, he could use a break or two smile

Moke smile

Thanks! as for the horn player we cannot use up such requests for horn players smile
More important blessing's to those who can really use it.

Worse case scenario I'll keep the horn lines I already laid down from keyboard. The guide ones... Then I'll solo on something else. I'll be disgusted with it forever but that's what The album is titled "Taking On Forever" smile

But I will sell anything in my possession if it was worth anything lol and let the teeth fall out of my mouth in attempts to get my song to turn out like I want it to. And that's with absolutely no intention of shopping or pitching it!

I'll get that horn on there one way or another.

Thanks!

Okay - Who do you think arrived at my place tonight?

A GREAT trumpet player and guess how much it cost? $100
Can you believe that..

I TOLD ya be careful don't use up those requests Moke... smile

On top of all that he was a Pison! lol.

Weird day, started out rough personally, then I was about to throw out some junk mail including mail from BMI. Right before I do my friend calls me and tells me he got a check from BMI and asked if I got one. I said "NEVER IN MY WHOLE LIFE"

Sure enough I open this thing and there's a royalty check. I was shocked... It was sitting on my table for days.
Not a lot but enough for my broke butt to smile.
Seems the movie I had 4 songs in made it's way to TV a few times. Only I did it in 2005 so when nothing came of it, I wrote it off as another lost cause.

Anyway upon seeing this, the dollars meant little too me.
What meant the most and was AWESOME!!!!! was showing the check to my near 90 year old Mom. Her eyes lit up as she said, "Now this is from songs you wrote"?? Afterwards she say's "Oh that's great, and did you check the mail box today yet??? LOL

And It felt really nice to feel like a PROFESSIONAL songwriter for once.
But best of all to light up your Mom's face!!!

What's funny is it shows up for the first time EVER the week that I contemplate and decide I'm packing it in on writing songs for pitching and probably songs with lyrics as well. Retiring from the business aspect of music, like a beaten up fighter should.

Thanks!

Man, that's AWESOME, Mike! It's so great to learn that good things happen to good people.. a great thing for both you and your mother to experience as well. Is she Italian?

Make sure to frame the check and hang it somewhere you can watch it everyday. That sort of thing can work as self-suggestion, the beginning of a new chapter in your story, where the plot changes.

Your story might turn out to be a romantic comedy after all, where the hero needs to go through all kinds of troubles before everything solves out in the end after all.

The check is a significant turning point, Mike. A sign to encourage you, the forces out there show you that you are on the right path. You don't just have to believe anymore, now you KNOW.

Way cool! Keep rocking!!!! cool

Hey thanks Mags smile

Is she Italian? smile No no just me LOL. I know what you meant but it sounded funny at first. But yeah she is and my father was 100% both grandparents as well.

Well if I framed and hung up my very first rejection letter from Clive than certainly this should have a stint on the wall as well I do have six scrapbooks from my musical life so a copy goes there for sure. I hung the rejection letter for even more motivation and as constant reminder of how hard I'd have to work.

I have felt like a writer "professionally" in a number of very cool situations in the past, especially when staff writing at a label and writing for a band on another label. There were checks, advances.. But all deals fell through before I could ever see a royalty check. Ya know like mission unaccomplished smile

Thanks bro
Mike

Mike,
From what I've heard, read and understand, MOST prescription drugs do have side effects and sometimes dangerous consequences. For example, Celebrex (celecoxib) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory... not saying you took it, just pointing out that you can google up nearly all over-the-counter and prescription drugs to learn what the reported damage and side effects.

Just as an example, here's a long list of potential side effects:
http://www.drugs.com/sfx/celebrex-side-effects.html

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using Celebrex:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; trouble breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); bloody or black, tarry stools; change in the amount of urine produced; chest pain; confusion; dark urine; depression; fainting; fast or irregular heartbeat; fever, chills, or persistent sore throat; hearing loss; mental or mood changes; numbness of an arm or leg; one-sided weakness; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; ringing in the ears; seizures; severe headache or dizziness; severe or persistent stomach pain or nausea; severe vomiting; shortness of breath; sudden or unexplained weight gain; swelling of hands, legs, or feet; unusual bruising or bleeding; unusual joint or muscle pain; unusual tiredness or weakness; vision or speech changes; vomit that looks like coffee grounds; yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Personally, I stir away from any kind of drugs and try to find the most natural and "organic" solutions possible to nurish my body and stay healthy. We aren't robots or machines, but living organisms that God designed to work within certain constraints, which is quit amazing in itself how well it can all work if the body is given the chance.

I'd say you're probably one step closer to the truth now, and with all of our prayers, something good is bound to happen!

Hang in there!
Michael
