Hey folks....haven't been around lately...lots of stuff going on in my own "arena"....don't want to complain... please read below it will explain Kevin's loss of his beloved brother...the song I put together kinda of fast....Kevin liked it....I know everyone shares Kevin's loss....he's a great guy....have a listen.... Hi Robert, On May 13th, my brother/best friend John (59) passed away from a sudden heart attack on a fishing trip. His sons and nephews sort of adopted Oh Danny Boy (Oh Johnny Boy now) as his theme song. He was quite a character. So I re-wrote the lyrics and pasted them below. Anyway I understand this is a pretty un-ordinary thing to try and sing but I thought I'd give you a look and see if you had any ideas. Might be a nice tribute, might be too sad to even listen to, I don't know. It's cool if don't feel right trying it. His favorite song was actually Under the Boardwalk, he loved to sing that one kareokee style (not well but better than me....lol).....someday I may feel like parodying that one not sure right now. Thanks Kevin Oh Johnny Boy (Oh Danny Boy) Oh Johnny boy, the trout, the trout are rising in the deep pools where the river gently bends The Shower's gone, still the rain is never ending and though I cannot fish here with you my friend I know by now you've found a better place In time I'lll follow in the boot print path you've made and the sun will once again shine on our face Oh Johnny boy, oh Johnny boy, save me the day and when I come, and by chance the fish aren't biting we can sit close by the waters edge and catch up on all the days that we've been missing share a cold one in good company again and I hear you casting softly just up above me underneath the rows of weeping willow trees Fish well my friend save a big one for me till then I will stand and fish with you in my dreams Top Reply · Quote · Quick Reply · Quick Quote Unread By: none The link should be below...........thanks http://snd.sc/jRsvvt

Peacefully and without pain. I'll always remember "Goddamit ! Whatya mean the guy isn't black ? " LOL Hope you're getting things sorted Bob, and there's still a gig going at the Holiday Inn in Penang. I'll play keys.

Very cool of you to do this, Bob. Nicely done - very moving.
That's a fine lyric, Kevin - hope you share it with your family. I'm sorry about your brother....sure he's smiling at this somewhere though.

This is a beautiful song. Hopefully it was also helpful in the healing process that takes place when ever you loose someone close. I lost Both my Mom and Dad over a relatively brief period of time and writing a song about them was very helpful. Nicely done. Thanks for sharing.

Robert, As I've told you already can't thank you enough, I still tear up when I hear this. One of our nephews played the piano in church that day and was slipping a few notes from Oh Danny Boy in between the hymns, our oldest nepwhew delivered the most beautiful eulogy that I've ever heard. A fitting tribute to a man who loved life and loved everyone he ever met and everyone he ever met loved him.
Geoff, Thanks for listening, not surprisingly Robert came to mind for this one.
Jason, Thanks, Robert did a tremendous job as always. I told him that Oh Danny Boy is almost impossible to sing as written and that I knew I was off track in places trying to match it. But as you said he did it proud.
Mackie, I am proud of what Robert has done. It will of course always be my personal favorite.
Zeek, I think, thanks for listening.
Scott, Thanks so much I'd like to think that. You should have seen the line that formed at McClurkins that night for calling hours, all the way through and out the door, told one of our mutual friends that night that at least if he comes to mine there will be no waiting...
Vic, Thanks, like I told Geoff, Robert sure came to mind for this one.
DMK I appreciate your comments and I thank you for listening.
Tom, Yes, part of the healing process for sure, that's what we do. Lost my best friend who wasn't my brother last November and the best friend who was my brother in May .Writing has been a big outlet for me.
Thanks for the well wishes Kevin

Kevin, You couldn't have picked a more memorable or fitting melody to pen your eulogy to Johnny. Your voice and guitar fill the song with the emotion of parting. A fine final tribute. Best of luck as you work through the grief of the past year.

Hi T-Bob
Very touching my friend. This was very heartfelt and good of you. I'm sorry about Kevin's brother, poor family. I nearly lost my brother who's 59 also just last month. I feel like if one more person I love leaves us I'll just fold tent...
BEAUTIFUL! I like when you sing like this Bob, soft and easy.

Dan, Thank you for listening, Robert did it proud.
Mike, Thanks for stopping in. In both of our cases we had a moment to realize how lucky we are or how lucky we were to have such wonderful friends who happened to be brothers as well.

Hey Mike....Kevin is a great guy....I nearly checked out when I had my heart attack....if Terri was home that day it would have been "curtains" for me.....so I feel blessed to be here today....the odds are 50/50 on survival of one....so I'm glad for your brother and your family.... I did one take on this song....and mistakes an all it's from the heart....so thanks for the kind words....I can still sing alittle....lol...I hit low spots some times with the music....helping Kevin brought me back alittle if you know what I mean... Thanks for the kind words....you are a great guy too....we love you down here in Georgia....I better go now, i'm getting sentimental....take care my friend....T-Bob Hi T-Bob
