When David (Lyd) posts a song, they are so beautiful, I beg if I can sing them and he is so kind and wonderful, he lets me. I thank him for letting me hear myself in his music. (this is David's lyric, melody, music and he mixed it, I'm just lucky to be able to sing it.) PERFECT DREAM on SoundClick PERFECT DREAM on ReverbNation Perfect Dream by David Butler (lyD) There's nothing left to say No more games to play There's nothing left to do I'm losing you I didn't read the signs I thought you were mine It took so long to realise we're through CHORUS I don't want to leave like this Don't want to lose your tender kiss You know I'd love to stay and fight But it just wouldn't be right To fight for something that is gone A love that held us for so long And like every perfect dream has to end So do we There's nothing for me here Our love has disappeared There's nothing but a thousand memories Evenings in the sun I remember every one But now the sun won't shine, the days are grey CHORUS I don't want to leave like this Don't want to lose your tender kiss You know I'd love to stay and fight But it just wouldn't be right To fight for something that is gone A love that held us for so long And like every perfect dream has to end So do we BRIDGE And now sometimes I wonder How it all went wrong Love that seemed so special Tell me where's it gone? What we had seemed perfect But when I woke up that feeling wasn't here It's disappeared There's nothing left to say No more games to play There's nothing left to do I'm losing you CHORUS I don't want to leave like this Don't want to lose your tender kiss You know I'd love to stay and fight But it just wouldn't be right To fight for something that is gone A love that held us for so long And like every perfect dream has to end So do we

Hey Tammy, It’s a beautiful song. If I had to nitpick I’d say this line doesn’t sound just right. I realize (wouldn’t) doesn’t sing well and I think that’s the problem here. I would change that to would not. But it just wouldn't be right Other than that I think it sounds very good. Dottie

Dottie and Glynda,
Thanks for listening gals!! David did everything, this is his song, not mine, I just begged him to sing it.
Appreciate the listen!

Hi Tammy,
I like Calvin’s description of this song as "beautiful sadness." Good writing and melody. You sing the song with a delicate touch…very pretty.

Calvin,
You made my day by saying it was "beautiful sadness", but cause you put into words what I am trying to convey with my voice. I really appreciate that.

hi tammy, i agree with all, beautiful. i was wondering as i listened. will there ever be a bigger production with you singing it, not that the guitar/ vocal wasn't fine, i just heard a more produced version with your voice in my head so to speak and thot, wow, that would be awesome. just a thot. i liked it.

Hi Tammy,
Beautiful and simple. David did a great job mixing your vocal into the single guitar track. And I can listen to your singing anytime.
Thanks for sharing it. glen

This is heart-breaking, Tammy. I love it The only thing I might suggest is to sing the "so do we" line with a little less power and with a little more of a wistful feel. Just what I'm hearing. I can see why you wanted to sing it Scott

Tammy, Lot to like with this song. The melody is very good and your voice fits it very well also. I think I would change the "so do we" a little. I am wondering if the word "we" is not drawn out so far I might like it better but I would have to hear it that way to decide. Similar to Scotts suggestion I guess.
Sounds really good though. Great job on a beautiful song!

Hi everyone I just wanted to pop in to say thanks for all the replies. I really appreciate the comments about the song and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Tammy can make anything sound lovely! I'm always delighted when Tammy offers to sing any of my songs. dmk, I would like to put together a more fully arranged version of this and a guitarist friend has already offered to get involved, so hopefully we'll have another version soon!

Hey Tams,
You got a grown man to cry. What am I going to do with you Tams ?
Just magic. Work it up, and record it properly, it's a winner.
Tams and Tommy Emmanuel. That would work.
cheers, Geoff

A very appealing song Tams. The right vocal touch. I love those tearjerking sad love songs (almost as much as horror music). I'm sure a lot of listeners can relate to David's lyrics. Well done! Best, John

Beautiful sadness -- that describes it just right.
I agree with what's been mentioned above: "So do we" (and at 2:25 or so, I didn't even hear the "do").
I would record it a couple more times and just clean up those few little spots here and there. Nice sound all around.

I'm not a big fan of sad songs, but I like to hear you sing.
I like the guitar chord structure in this song. Your vocal versatility is amazing. You can sing a pop tune, country, bluegrass, and then add on a sad song with only a guitar. You should make a CD.

Scott,
Right on the money friend!!
I recorded it and listened to it and was upset with the "so do we", I intended on them being lower...achingly so ...Once I have one ear plugged up with music, I just don't hear myself as well and it sounds different to me on playback. I have limited recording time, so I left it, but you are right, that is what is wrong with the vocal.
Thanks for taking a listen!!

Beautifully done.
I have a hard time imagining that you have to beg anyone to sing their songs. You're welcome to any one of mine...or all of them that are appropriate for your vocal. (I do write male vox as well)

So beautiful and relevant. Tammy, your voice is so pretty and you just melt with the guitar so seamlessly. A wonderfully written piece that any artist would be fortunate to record IMHO. The modulations in the score were very nice and you so married the music with your sweet, sweet voice. Thank You so much for sharing this heartfelt requiem of love and angst..

H i Tammy,
Wow--and they say there's no room for sad songs--this one tops them all. A very common theme--but I've never heard it approached this way or this well. hats off to you and david. Absolutely beautiful and might I add--you voice is equally as beautiful as the song. I could listen to this one over and over. Very, very nice. You should be proud. take care, Roger

Strong simple guitar/vocal demo. Fits this type of song much better than a full production ever could. Like Roger said, I could listen to this again (and already did). Perhaps just clean up the phrasing here and there as already mentioned, but the basic song and demo are very well done.
Best Regards and Aloha,

Tammy - First of all, great voice. It's filled with delicate emotion and that fits the song perfectly. He was wise to let you sing this.
As for the song itself the first thing that I notice is that the chorus is great. Like GREAT. It's an amazing melody that gets stuck in your head almost immediately. And the good thing about this song is that it could work in a number of different genres with different arrangements. The stripped down version sounds good as it is, but you could definitely make this thing epic with some strings and more guitar. I almost think a country/pop version would work best actually.
If I had to nitpick (and I hate to) it would be to add something to the intro perhaps instrumentally to grab the listener a bit more. But overall I think you have a very high bar song here. Nice work.
