A slow plodding classic country tragedy, written for a female vocal (admittedly Tammy Wynette style, especially the chorus) I've just got the music worked out for this, my only issue is whether to use V3 as a bridge just to vary the melody a bit - not sure yet.
"The Vow"
I look at you, laying beside me And Im thinking, you didn't guess Your behaviour, would lead me to finding The one thing I'd never expect. The pain that you gave me is something, That one day I'll take to my grave, And when I'm sober I find, the only thing on my mind Are the vows we made that day.
chorus You promised me you'd stand by me, Even when the times were hard. You promised me you'd stay with me And only death could make us part. So I gave myself to you, Stood before the Lord that day, Didn't think, my life would end With the vows we made that day.
Someone stopped me, in the bar last week, Said, exactly what he'd seen, Then I found that old motel receipt And I knew just where you'd been. It broke my heart, to think that you Didn't love me in that way, Even though you said you always would When we made our vows that day.
chorus You promised me you'd stand by me, Even when the times were hard. You promised me you'd stay with me And only death could make us part. So I gave myself to you, Stood before the Lord that day, Didn't think, my life would end With the vows we made that day.
When I got home, and saw you sleeping I knew I had a, choice to make. Should I stand by you and work things out, Or should I just, run away. So I dropped down, to my knees, Asked the Lord if I should stay, And he just told me to recall, The vows we made that day.
chorus You promised me you'd stand by me, Even when the times were hard. You promised me you'd stay with me And only death could make us part. So I gave myself to you, Stood before the Lord that day, Didn't think, my life would end With the vows we made that day.

"Whether your next song is #1 on Billboard, or a critical failure by all measurable standards, go look in the mirror. You are the exact same person you were the day before your received the news. Never forget that." -Brian Austin Whitney
