This is a song I've been working on. It's not what I would consider a a marketable song and I don't know where it fits but it's a song born out of the frustrations of of all the back and forth craziness going on in the United States. It's a song about compassion and tolerance both of what seem to be in short supply lately. Hopefully there's some coherency and not just the ramblings of an old guy. lol Mean what we say Mean what we say Look around you good people can you feel the tension blame is flying every where coming from every direction politicians on the take they take and take and still want more Wall Street’s is on the make again while the wolves are pounding down our doors Do we stand united or fall alone it shouldn’t be that hard if we stand up and mean what we say Mean what we say Stand up and mean what we say Mean what we say If we lay down our pride we can survive the stormy weather just look way deep down inside and understand we’re in this all together we’re all sister and brothers and fathers and mothers of the free it doesn’t matter who’s left or who’s right or who’s wrong it comes right down to you and me If everybody wants a better world It should be a simple thing to stand up and mean what we say Mean what we say Stand up and mean what we say Mean what we say Now I don’t mean to speak for everyone A but I think it’s safe to say Well you be the judge Cause everybody wants peace Everybody wants a future for the children When everybody stops acting so crazy We will find our way If we mean what we say Mean what we say If we mean what we say Mean what we say Words and music by Dave Dalton © 2011

This is a Rodney King type song, who famously asked, "Can we all just get along?
The sentiment of the song is commendable. I think it might be a Gospel number, something a preacher might sing with a Gospel choir behind him, with a lotsa hand clapping and hooting and hollaring!

Thanks for listening

Hey Dave, reminds me a little of a 60s protest song but more contemporary if that makes sense, like the lyric the sentiment it presents and you deliver it really well, nice one,
Tony.

Dave--
You have a DEAD ON MESSAGE running through this ONE--IT'S MY KIND OF SONG--I'm a TELE man too--You have a GREAT GROOVING MELODY woven in the fabric of this song--LOTS OF US CAN IDENTIFY, MY FRIEND--May need a little HIGH EDGE taken off with a compressor--other than that, I'm DIGGIN' this song--SO WRITE ON--

Hi Dave Wow hey, I just love it, and I agree with Mackie, it is a dead on message, very well written in my book. Yep I'm hooked, excellent, stuck in my head, that's a good thing! Hugs Michele

Hi DAVE I totally enjoyed your song, very nicely done. This part was a nice touch but I wanted it to be just a bit louder... Now I don’t mean to speak for everyone A but I think it’s safe to say Well you be the judge Guitar sounded really nice ! Thanks for the entertainment. Hey guys thanks for listening
I cut my teeth on Bob Dylan and the likes and I think it's sad with all the stuff going on in this world that there doesn't seem to be more main stream artists writing about it. I believe there's a void and a demand but it's probably political correctness rearing it's ugly head.
Calvin
I bumped down the volume of that part intentionally I don't know why but maybe I'll bump it back up again.
Thanks

I tried not to preach or take one side over the other and just point out...Huston we have a problem here
