Hi everyone, I've been contacted by a company by the name "GoDIY RECORDS". They claim to have lots and good contacts in the music industry from radio stations to agencies to promoters to publicists to record labels and so on. They're putting together a "compilation CD" of artists/bands of different styles/genres from certain areas which they will then submit to all - well, it says 500 - of their contacts and do initial follow ups. They will also provide to info of the contacts so that after the initial follow up, so that the artists/bands can do further follow ups thereafter. They want $396 for the whole thing for putting two of my songs on the compilation CD, producing/pressing the CD, art work for the CD and shopping around with it amongst their contacts. As I couldn't hardly find any information on them via google search, I was wondering if anybody here heard of them, know about them or even worked with them. What are your general thoughts about this? Here's some more information about this company: http://www.godiyrecords.com/ http://www.reverbnation.com/label/godiyrecords http://www.reverbnation.com/godiy

I would think twice........Who are they? Why did they contact you? We get this kind of thread here on a regular basis. Most of these type of companies are a waste of time effort and money. In all probability you have been spammed. These type of companies offer you little more than an expensive comp CD wich will not earn dollar one and will never get looked at by anyone who makes any decisions about taking a career further. It is a nice earenr for them........do the maths..... If such a company DID have a huge success rate or even a moderate one there would be a queue of folk wanting to be on their comp CD.......so why do they have to tout for biz by contacting you and the thousands of others who probably received the same spam robot email..

Wow, they'll make $3960 (20 tracks) for burning a few CDs and mailing them blindly to people in the industry and then cold calling a few weeks later. Talk about theft!
