I played in open-G on the guitfiddle. Gave it an airy, pop-type sound I thought (shrug). A lot of words and it still ended up kinda long I thought.
Though I'm very happy you like it. Straight from the bedroom-producer Dan Miner! lol

Hey Dan and Glyn. JPF is like Songwriters City. I like this raw sound. Reminds me of Steve Earle. Voice maybe needs a little upping volume wise and maybe push another instrument into the mix around halfway. A winner anyhow. Vic

I think this is a pretty good lyric but the last two lines on the verses and the last two lines in the chorus before it goes into the hook line could be cut.
So it would look like this:
Can't believe you left me here alone Made up my mind to bring you home No matter what I have to do I don't care what I go through
Living a life of self delusion The mirrors reflection was illusion Acting without a thought It's all my fault, love can't be bought
(Chorus) I don't like this feeling, no, I've never been afraid My mind won't stop racing, there's so much I have to say My heart's not through...loving you
Something like that (you get the idea).
It just seems like it takes a long time to get to the hook and also I think I hear Dan struggling to fit some of the words in. Vic said this reminds him of Steve Earle, but to me this sounds more like a ColdPlay kind of song. I like the Open G tuning for this, but I think using the open tunings on a longer, lyric driven song can be hard b/c there's a drone vibe working with all those strings tuned to D's and G's. For this one, I think if you added another instrument to the mix, some harmonies, etc. that would help.
It's a good start. Glynda - I'm praying for you, lady. Hope you can get out of that hospital soon.

Yes Wendy...I had to kinda rush through some words and sections to keep it shorter and I still cruised by the 4 minute mark.
Maybe Glynda would like to do a rewrite. Or not. It's her song

Hi Glynda & Coalminer,
This one is sounding really fine. Something about it was bugging me though, and I think Wendy hit on it. There needs to be something else introduced because the chorus starts out just like the verses. That tends to make it very repetitive and it's already a bit long. Either another instrument or some variation in the melody there. Maybe a snip or two off the lyrics as well?
Something else I noticed, the verses aren't sung alike. There's a pause after the first line in V1 but not in V2? Maybe just a matter of phrasing but there's something to be said for consistency, especially if you're thinking commercial.
Just some thoughts to take what is starting out pretty good and make it even better.
Ricki

Wow, is that Daniel's voice? I love that raspy sound, reminds me of Johnny Resnik of the Goo Goo Dolls! The lyric is very heartfelt, and I especially love the line "My heart's not through loving you". I agree that maybe the melody should be a little more varied? Nice collab, you two!

Some nice change ups in there with the chords which create a pretty interesting mood that matches the lyrics and have a modern sound. Goodjob guys.
