Hi everyone, I am hoping that some of you may be able to help me with this as I cannot seem to find a clear answer..I am thinking that maybe it has to do with geographical location or something(maybe pronounced different ways depending on where you are, although even me and my mother pronounce it differently )....Can someone define the word SAVVY for me and tell me exactly how to pronounce it?...Is sahhveee, saavee,or savee(pronounced like Savannah)...sorry if it seems like a silly question.....Michelle

Michelle, it's pronounced "savee", with the emphasis on the first syllable. Here you go:http://www.forvo.com/word/savvy/ (A handy little site for other words as well.)

Reminds me of a tale my dad told me of a local character going to the literary rally (academic competition) in pronunciation. Except he would tell people "proNOUNciation."
I've only heard savvy as SAV-ee with a short "a" like in the word have.

Hi Michele Think of it as rhyming with Daddy or cabbie, that should help you pronounce it. –verb (used with object), verb (used without object) 1. to know; understand. –noun 2. Also, sav·vi·ness. practical understanding; shrewdness or intelligence; common sense: a candidate who seemed to have no political savvy. –adjective 3. shrewdly informed; experienced and well-informed; canny. Here's a sentence: Donald Trump is very savvy in the business world and in real estate. When you're feeling kind of crabby And your outlook's simply drabby Then it's time that you get savvy with a song Write a lyric that gives chills With a melody that thrills Soon your day will only seem as half as long!!

savee(pronounced like Savannah) Yep, that's the one, just replace 'annah' with 'ee' and you have it - phonetically speaking anyway

I once asked a Russian guy whether the correct pronunciation of vodka was ' vodka' or ' wodka'. He said it was 'vodka', I said thanks and he said "You're velcome"

My children and I have been discussing the proper pronunciation of the word COLOR...They tell me that I"say it funny"..When I say it ,it sounds like caller, they say its kyler..
