Verse 1 Been driving this metal box for 20 hours, And still you're half a day away. Passed tall mountains, fields of snow and thursty deserts, On the ashfalt so lonely gray. How I...
Verse 2 Thought a lot about what it's like where you are, And if I will ever fit in. But I'm confident you'll be there with open arms, And gone takes the doubt away again. How I...
Chorus 1 Wish you could See my empty face, Then you'd now how I missed you so. Wish you could Warm my cold embrace, Tell me you'd never let me go. I wish you could But I understand, It's out of your hands.
Verse 3 Last time I left you I swore that never again, Cause you're such a big part of me. I haven't been the same since I drove out of sight, My heart can't find it's sweet release. How I...
Chorus 2 Wish you could Tell me it's over, And then hold me close forever. Wish you could Leant me your shoulder, Make this broken man feel better. I wish you could But I understand, It's out of your hands... I just wish you could...

Hello, Brian.
"And gone takes the doubt away again."
I guess this expression is idiomatic. Oddly, enough, I think the line sort of works in English, although with a different meaning. Since you start talking about traveling, the line conveyed the idea to me as BEING GONE (away from home traveling) and therefore the doubt is left behind, although you express it as "taken away". Still kind of works. Gone is a form of the verb "to go" of course, here you've sort of turned it into a noun. While not proper English, American slang often will turn nouns into verbs and vice versa (usually to the despair of English teachers!)
This maybe only my singular interpretation, so wait and see what others might say. Good luck with this.
