Holy moly there are a lot of possibilities for cover art.
I know that ideally you'd have some sort of creative vision for how it would look, but with so many options it is a bit overwhelming.
To those who have been part of the creative process with their CD cover art: How did you decide what style/look/content would grace the packaging of your music?

I consulted with a few graphic designers with branding experience - my recording/songs were already complete. Wanted to find someone who would get some inspiration from the source. We did a few iterations on the ideas until we knew exactly what we wanted to execute.
Very much a collaborative process, just like co-writing.
You'll want someone motivated and qualified - that means paying them or doing some sort of service trade.
