Never Enough Time © 2010 Ronnie Lee Hurst/Greg Swartzentruber Some days I pick up my pen to write a perfect song One with all the right words sitting right where they belong Truly brilliant thoughts drift by but they’re so quickly gone I’m sure that they’ll float back to me some time later on And so I wait For the song to come to me Yeah I wait For the universe to speak I think I have it in me to pen a song sublime But it always seems there’s never enough time No there’s never enough time When I think I’m close to it, it somehow comes unglued Often when I’m struggling with which thoughts I should include Something always comes along that subtly shifts the mood While I’m waiting for the muse’s gift, other things intrude And so I wait For the song to come to me Yeah I wait For the universe to speak I think I have it in me to pen a song sublime But it always seems there’s never enough time No there’s never enough time So I’ll just keep on living And waiting for that day When finally I’m granted With something deep to say As the time rolls on I’m slowly turning gray But I still wait For the song to come to me I still wait For the universe to speak I know I have it in me to pen a song sublime But now it seems I’m running out of time Oh there’s never enough time No there’s never enough time

Very nice song, enjoyed my listen! The rhyme of "time" and "sublime" felt a little strange, but other than that, you have a good song here. Catchy chorus melody too. It's not my usual style of music, but I liked it. I think we've all had that feeling of waiting for a good song to come to you; I know I have!

Tony.

really great song, I like the idea of writing a song about writing songs! I guess its a natural thought for a songwriter. The song is brilliantly done, lovely country voice.

Hello Ronnie Great sentiment and Ann is right, I know I've been there. I also wrote a song about it,"Hello Love". Maybe I'll post one day. Lovely lyrics and Your vocals are perfect.

Thanks Nelson... I'm actually Greg but that's no big deal. Ronnie comes around these parts too. But they are Ronnie's vocals and while I think they are pretty darned good too, he's not happy with them and there will be a re-record.

Thanks Janet, we are pretty happy with the lyric but are considering a few tweaks to the bridge.

Hi Greg, This is a good match of lyrics to music, it has that wistfulness that we've all felt as the "right" words are sometimes just beyond our grasp. Just a couple of minor things. That sublime line bugged me too. How about something like this? "I think I have it in me to write the perfect line" And the last line in V2, "other things" is kind of weak. How about this? "While I’m waiting for the muse’s gift, life always intrudes" I liked the bridge lyrics but I was expecting something more climactic musically. What else ya got? Just some thoughts. Really well done overall. Ricki

really like this song. Been there too many times myself. Stroke of genius to write about it. Good "idea guy". LOL
